The Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has warned those planning attacks against revered Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah to desist from it.

Suleman issued the warning on Wednesday morning December 30  via his Twitter page following attacks from Northern groups on the cleric over his Christmas day message.

Suleiman tweeted

“Nothing must happen to Bishop Kukah, those who are planning it know what I am saying. Let’s not trigger what would snowball into more drama, leave unarmed critics and deal with armed terrorists. Don’t touch Bishop Kukah. When you touch God’s ministers, God would reply you.”

It's time to make sure people who falsely accuse others of sexual assault face harsher penalties - OAP Toolz

It

OAP Tolu Demuren aka Toolz, says it is time to ensure that people who falsely accuse others of sexual assault face harsher penalties.

The mum of two says it is ''disgusting and downlight evil'' to falsely accuse someone of such a crime. She shared her thoughts on her Twitter handle.

Her tweets read

''As someone who is deeply against sexual assault in any form, (in fact I would gladly vote for rapists to be castrated with no anaesthetic) I think its time to make sure people who falsely accuse others of sexual assault face harsher penalties.

Its disgusting and downright evil to falsely accuse someone of such a barbaric crime out of revenge or any other reason. Its also a huge slap in the face for real victims.

When these situations hit social media or the blogs, the noise after the initial accusation is so much louder than when the accusation is proven to be false. Unfortunately the aftermath of this is that you have an innocent person with an irreversibly damaged reputation.

How many blogs actually make sure they correct their initial story?

As a mum of 2 boys, who will be taught the importance of consent, I've thought about how damaging a false accusation could be for them (God forbid that ever happens) Lastly, should people be able to anonymously accuse someone of sexual assault? ''

Arewa youths call for Bishop Kukah’s arrest and prosecution over his Christmas day statement

Arewa youths call for Bishop Kukah?s arrest and prosecution over his Christmas day statement

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, over his Christmas day message.

Bishop Kukah in his Christmas day message, attacked President Buhari, accusing him of  being nepotistic. He went on to also accuse President Buhari of institutionalizing "northern hegemony by reducing others in public life to second-class status. He went on to state that there would have been a coup if a non-northern Muslim president does a fraction of what Buhari has done.

Reacting to the clergyman's statement, the Arewa Youths Consultative forum described Kukah's statement as unguarded and open incitement to military coup and insurrection against the democratically elected government.

In a statement signed and released by its National President, Yerima Shettima, the group called on the Federal Government to place Bishop Kukah on a special watch list for this open attempt to “set the South against the North in order to destabilize our country and further complicate matters.”

The statement in part reads

“Such a reckless statement by Kukah betrays something much more sinister against both the North and the nation as a whole because Nigeria is at a stage that it requires responsible advice for attaining peace and stability, not deliberate attempt to mischievously compound our problems.

If Kukah wants to play politics, he should not do so in the pulpit and he should keep the Bishop’s office aside and choose any Nigerian political party platform to contest for President in 2023 and stop all the pretences”

The group then reminded the cleric of the rough road tread by democracy heroes to rid the nation of military dictatorship at a time when he was nowhere in sight.

“We will not allow opportunists who did make any contribution to scuttle the democracy achieved through our sweat and toil and the sacrifice of our liberty,” the statement read

“Marital failure is nothing to be ashamed of'- Nigerian lady says as she shares the lessons she learnt from her failed one year old marriage

?Marital failure is nothing to be ashamed of

A Nigerian tourism expert identified as Chiamaka Obuekwe, took to her Twitter handle today to share some of the lessons she learnt from her over a year old marriage that has packed up.

Chiamaka revealed that she had her traditional wedding in December 2017 and her white wedding in January 2018. She said by February of 2019, her marriage to a man whom she dated for four years, had ended.

She enumerated some of the lessons she learnt in her short-lived marriage.

Read her tweets below

''I woke up this morning & Google photos reminded me that it was my traditional wedding on this day, 3 years ago & as some of you may or may not know, I am no longer married & unashamedly so. Today I am going to share a bit about marriage from what I experienced & learnt.

Firstly, a disclaimer - I am not a marriage counsellor, therapist nor do I know much. I am only sharing from experience. So, my marriage lasted for about a year or a little over. Trad was in Dec 2017, white in January 2018 and the marriage ended in February 2019.

Let me tell you the truth guys, marriage can be beautiful. At least I experienced its beauty though briefly. Also marriage has nothing to do with how long you date. We dated for almost 4 years, so that's long enough. But lots of signs were ignored.

So I'll be sharing 7 major lessons I learnt from my marital failure (which I actually don't see as a failure because I gained peace, restored joy, confidence and more).
Let's go

Lesson 1 - Don't ignore the signs. The truth is there are always signs there. Marriage only escalates the issues. If he or she were a particular way before the marriage, it would only get worse afterwards. The problem is that a lot of people (including me) are blindly in love so we ignore the signs. We believe the person would change after marriage. But brethren, people hardly change. If the person is lazy, stingy, unforgiving or unkind before marriage, these things would only become worse after marriage. So be wise & do not ignore the signs.

Lesson 2 - Don't fight to win as an individual but as a team. Hmm this one. Please remember that you're a team when you become married and fights & disagreements are inevitable, but don't fight to be the winner in any disgreement. Your partner is not the enemy. Win together.

Lesson 3 - Communication is key. This one, I'm sure you've heard & you're probably tired of hearing but it is sooo true. Talk about everything with your partner, I mean everything. Talk about things as random as the weather and as deep as your sex life, your aspirations & dreams

Lesson 4 - Discuss your expectations and desires before marriage. This is closely related to communication. You need to be sure of yourself as a person and clear about your expectations & desires in marriage. You need to talk about things as important as kids if you want them, you need to talk about your sex life, about cooking, home care, finances & so much more. A lot of people go into marriage without discussing these things. If these were discussed, a lot of couples would even know that they have different expectations & should not be together.

Lesson 5 - Don't go to bed angry. This is also something you've heard a lot. I mean this literally and otherwise. Don't let anger fester & grow in your relationship. To be honest, this is what broke us. Don't let the small issues turn into big issues. Don't sweat the small stuff

Lesson 6 - Marriage takes responsibility and maturity. This is something I am still learning; infact a lot of us are. A lot of people don't know the responsibility it takes to be in a relationship or marriage. It's not all fun & games. It is a very serious commitment. Marriage is not child's play. So take your time, grow, learn, travel, be exposed, read, ask questions, go to counselling, all before getting married. It is not something to be rushed into. Do not let anyone, especially society pressure or rush you into getting married.

Lesson 7 - Your partner is not perfect. Learn to accept your partner with their flaws and all. You are meant to grow together. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't heal from past trauma or that you should be a shitty person & be waiting for someone to come and save you. However, no one is perfect so learn to accept your partner. If you desire to become better at anything, work on it together. That helps you even grow closer. An example is if you desire to live a healthier lifestyle, you guys can work out together and all. That's romantic sef.

So these are my 7 lessons. I hope you've learnt something or at least been reminded of something you've learnt before. But of course I have bonus points - Your happpiness, joy, peace and mental health come first, so always put yourself first. Be confident in yourself. Be your own person; don't let the marriage stop you from being who you are. Have your own interests, friends and goals. Heal from past trauma. Selah

Bonus bonus point about shame of marital failure - My dearest people, there's nothing to be ashamed of. Shame is only but a social construct created by society. Na marriage end, you no kill person. You are smart & amazing & beautiful things lie ahead for you. You matter. You rock

So there you go. Happy 3rd not-tradiversary to me. Thank you guys for reading. Love and light always''

Mallam Yahuza Mohammed

Armed bandits on Saturday night, December 26, invaded Kuchi Community in Munya local government area of Niger State and kidnapped 17 people including two 2-week-old babies.

It was gathered that the bandits numbering over 50 and armed with sophisticated weapons stormed the community at about 11: pm on Saturday, December 26.

The gunmen overwhelmed the local vigilantes even though their live bullets could not penetrate the vigilante group.

The raid was said to have lasted for almost two hours without any security operative countering the attackers.

Among those kidnapped were the parents of the former chairman of the local government, Mallam Yahuza Mohammed, a doctor, two nursing mothers with their two weeks old babies.

"I want to thank God because he is God indeed. He is the God that does not wear wristwatch. With Him, there is no time, no season, When people have written your case off, when doctors said it is not possible, God of possibility will show on the screen, He will show up in your case and that is what he did for me. Most of you know my case but Thank God it is a past tense now," she said.

"We held on to the word of God, we held on to Faith, we held on to the Blood of the Convenant and he did not fail us. I thank God for everyone that God has used in prayers. Some people know how to introduce you to herbalists, juju people but the people that surrounded me, all we know is prayers.,"

"Everyone that prayed we are seeing the result of that prayer. God did not do one but double. God wiped wiped away my tears, my secret tears. He put laughter in my mouth. All my questions...why why why, why me, he answered them,"

"I want to thank God for my husband's family. If you marry into a devilish family they will carry you to so many places. My mother-in-law and sisters-in-law are always praying for me. There is no day they will say let's go and see one baba. It is good to marry into a good home if not you will put your hands in certain things you are not supposed to. I thank God for them. They are always praying for us. They streghtened my faith." she added.

If the COVID19 vaccine comes into Nigeria, we need to do our own evaluation before it can be used on Nigerians. - NMA president, Professor Innocent Ujah says (video)

As the world continues to battle the COVID19 pandemic, the president of the Nigeria Medical Association NMA, Professor Innocent Ujah, says if the COVID19 vaccines come into Nigeria, the government will need to do its own evaluation of the vaccine before it can be used on Nigerians.

Ujah said this while speaking as a guest on Channels TV this morning. In his words, he said

''If the vaccines come to Nigeria, we need to quickly do our own evaluation of that vaccine. I cannot say with 100% certainty that in the process of developing this vaccine and the clinical trial wether any African countries were involved. I am not too sure but it is possible. But if not, then because of the biology, environment and our genetic composition, we need to do our clinical trial before it can be used on Nigerians.

While we do not question the efficacy and safety, these things vary from place to place. The responses vary from place to place.

Recall that when we were using chloroquine, some Southern parts of the country wasn't responding to Chloroquine, the part of the North were.

In totality, it was thought that Chloroquine wasn't effective and we changed.

If we have to use vaccine, we need to do our own cinical trials and see. For everything that is happening now is an emergency. Even the vaccine that is produced within nine months is an emergency. Otherwise, vaccine production doesn't take within six to nine months. It is a process.''

Our dear country is nowhere close to becoming a failed state - APC replies Financial Times

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to Financial Times' report of Nigeria becoming a failed country under President Muhammadu Buhari.

The ruling party in a statement released by its caretaker committee secretary John Akpanudoedehe, insisted that the Buhari administration is “visibly and frontally” addressing Nigeria’s current challenges.

The APC described the report as  “doomsday wishes" and further stated that the Buhari-led administration has displayed the political will and capacity to contain any criminal/terrorist activity and return the economy to growth.

The statement read;

“While naysayers and opposition partisans chorus their doomsday wishes for Nigeria, our dear country is nowhere close to becoming a failed state.

“From the economy to security, it is easy to sum up Nigeria with some recent recorded security incidents and the economic downturn. However, this government has displayed the political will and capacity to contain any criminal/terrorist activity and return the economy to growth.

“President Buhari’s administration which sees the urgent need to have a better policing system for the country and is embarking on sweeping police reforms and supporting community policing, is definitely not governing a country close to becoming a failed state.

“Amid the COVID-19 induced economic slowdown, President Buhari’s administration which is stimulating the economy by preventing business collapse; supporting labour-intensive sectors such as agriculture; creating jobs through infrastructural investments in roads, rails, bridges; promoting manufacturing and local production at all levels to attain self-sufficiency in critical sectors of the economy, is definitely not governing a country close to becoming a failed state.

"Nigeria used to have an ignoble pastime when previous administrations will rather bury its head in sand and spin conspiracies in the face of insecurity and engage in voodoo economics to hoodwink Nigerians while national resources were stolen and diverted to political cronies.

“While the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their hirelings engage in their unfortunate and apparently orchestrated attacks on the Armed Forces and other security services, the APC will rather support their efforts and charge them to do more to further degrade the capacity of terrorists and other criminal elements to attack soft targets."
