Nigerian-born American model, Fancy Acholonu has insinuated that she was "manipulated" into issuing a public apology to his ex-fiance and actor, Alex Ekubo, months after she called off their engagement.

Acholonu had in her apology post shared on Thursday, December 29, 2022, said she was sorry for hurting her ex-fiance, Alex Ekubo and his family. The actor also took to the comment section to appreciate her for the public apology.

This came after she shared her first post for the year. According to her, she is now free and no longer under anyone's control. She wrote;

Happy New Year everyone 2023 will be my year of strength, being fearless, speaking up for myself & FINALLY no longer under anyone’s control. I’m free, the chain is broken. May God bless us all

Cameroon football rocked by age fraud as 21 out of 30 Under-17 players are disqualified after the whole squad underwent?MRI scans to check how old they are

Cameroon have been rocked by a fresh age fraud scandal after 21 members of their Under-17 squad were disqualified over the issue.

Recall that Cameroon's football federation had summoned 44 players from eight different clubs for a hearing into alleged age or identity cheating back in the summer, with president Samuel Eto'o expected to end the problem in the African country.

Now Eto'o has been dealt another setback in his bid to end age fraud crisis after the majority of players selected for this year's UNIFACC tournament - contested by the Under-17 sides of Central African Football Federations' Union countries - were disqualified after failing MRI tests.

The tests are used to determine a player's age by scanning their wrists and measuring bone growth.

A Cameroon statement read: 'The Cameroonian Football Federation informs public opinion that as part of the preparations for the UNIFFAC Limbe 2023 tournament, qualifying for the next African U17 Nations Championship, 21 players out of the 30 currently on training have failed at the outcome of the MRI tests.

'They were immediately removed from the group. Steps were immediately taken for their replacement.

'This action is the result of strict instructions given by the President of FECAFOOT acting under the mandate of the COMEX, in order to put an end to the tampering with civil status records which have, in the past, tarnished the image of the apex body of the Cameroon football. FECAFOOT urges all actors, in particular educators, to ensure that the ages by category are respected.'

All policemen in Ajah division transferred ? PPRO

Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin has announced that  all policemen attached to the Ajah police station in Lagos State have been transferred out of the division.

According to Hundeyin, this would fully materialise in a couple of days. The statement read;

“I can confirm that this publication has been overtaken by events. The new DPO Ajah, CSP Adolf Ogwu, had earlier in the week dismantled all the shanties around the police station.

“In addition, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Abiodun Alabi, has already effected the transfer out of ALL personnel of the division, with replacement from other divisions. This would fully materialise in a couple of days.

“While appreciating @MobilePunch for the exposé, we encourage more Lagos residents to, as usual, say something whenever they see something, as this would translate to a better policing experience for all. Remember, security is everyone’s business.”

President Buhari is ahead of Chief Obasanjo in all fields of national development - Garba Shehu

President Buhari is ahead of Chief Obasanjo in all fields of national development - Garba Shehu

The presidency has slammed former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who in his New Year letter to Nigerians stated that Nigeria has moved from 'frying pan to fire' and from mountain top to valley in the last seven and half years.

In his letter released on January 1, 2023, the former Nigerian leader stated that the last seven and a half years ''have no doubt been eventful and stressful years for many Nigerians.''

His letter in part reads;

“I am constrained to write this letter to all Nigerians especially young Nigerians, friends of Nigeria globally as well as our development partners because of the gravity, responsibility and implications of the collective decision Nigerians, both young and old, will be making within the next two months.

The last seven and a half years have no doubt been eventful and stressful years for many Nigerians. We have moved from frying pan to fire and from mountain top to the valley.

Our leaders have done their best, but their best had turned out to be not the best for Nigeria and Nigerians at home and abroad. For most Nigerians, it was hell on earth.

Those of us who are alive should thank God for His mercies, brace ourselves for the remaining few months of this administration and pray and work very hard for an immediate better future – future of liberation, restoration and great hope and expectation.''

In a statement released this evening, the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, opined that Obasanjo is ''jealous'' of President Buhari.

According to Garba, President Buhari is ahead of Obasanjo in all fields of national development as leader of Nigeria. The Presidency added that Obasanjo’s tenure as President represented the "dark days of Nigeria’s democracy due to a slew of assaults on the constitution."

His statement reads

Former President Obasanjo is so well known to all that no one needs to describe who he is.

But, four things we will like to say:

One is that he will not stop attacking President Muhammadu Buhari because the former President won’t stop being jealous of anyone who beats him to a new record in the nation’s development process.

President Buhari is ahead of Chief Obasanjo in all fields of national development and to do that is cardinal sin to Obasanjo whose hallucinations tell him that he is the best ever to lead Nigeria and there will never be another one better than him.

President Buhari just completed the world-class edifice that is the Second Niger Bridge after three decades of failed promises. It is now awaiting commissioning.

Obasanjo laid the sod for the bridge in his first term as elected President and work never started.

When he sought re-election for his second term in office, he returned to the site to turn the sod for the bridge the second time. When the Obi of Onitsha, forthright and scholarly, reminded him that he had done this in the past, Obasanjo told the foremost Southeast traditional ruler that he was a liar, in the full presence of the Chiefs and Oracles in his palace.

Obasanjo lied to the Southeast to get their votes. President Buhari didn’t get their votes but built the bridge because he believed it is the right thing to do.

Two, President Buhari had been bagging awards and encomiums for trying to do that which the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria says a leader should do: serve one, or a maximum of two terms and go.

President Buhari has been stating and restating that he will supervise a better election than the one that brought him to office and to leave as and when due.

Having tried tenure elongation and failed, Obasanjo’s fictitious mind must be telling him that he is the one under attack.

But he is not on President Buhari’s radar because experience has shown, especially lately in West Africa where there have been at least three successful coups and many other failed attempts, that third term or tenure elongation is a recipe for political instability.

Furthermore, the totality of African leaders appointed President Buhari the Anti-Corruption Champion of the continent.

You can’t be an anti-corruption champion if “you meddled and bent the rules,” carrying the putrid responsibility of what happened to national assets in the name of privatization as documented by the Nigerian Senate in 2011.

As an insight, the Aluminum Smelter Company of Nigeria, ALSCON, which was set up with $3.2 billion, was sold to a Russian firm, Russal, for a paltry $130million. Delta Steel, which was set up in 2005, at a cost of $1.5billion, was sold to Global Infrastructure for just $30million.

ALSCON got back $120million for the dredging of the Imo River, which was never carried out.

Three, which is linked to the one above is the growing profile of President Buhari as the Champion of Democracy not only at home and in the West African subregion but the African continent as whole.

As President, Obasanjo destabilized internal democracy by orchestrating impeachment after impeachment of governors who were not compliant with his highly imperial administration.

As we said sometime back, Mr. Obasanjo’s tenure, 1999-2007, represented the dark days of Nigeria’s democracy due to a slew of assaults on the constitution.

The former president deployed federal machinery to remove governors Joshua Dariye, Rashidi Ladoja, Peter Obi, Chris Ngige and Ayo Fayose from office. They were the then governors of Plateau, Oyo, Anambra, Anambra and Ekiti, respectively, unjustly removed using the police and secret service under his control.

Under him, a five-man legislature met at 6:00 am and “impeached” Governor Dariye in Plateau; 18 members out of 32 removed Governor Ladoja of Oyo from office; in Anambra, APGA’s Governor Obi was equally impeached at 5:00 a.m. by members who did not meet the two-thirds required by the constitution.

Lawmaking powers of the Rivers State legislature were transferred to the federal parliament to punish Governor Amaechi for shifting his political alliance.

Moreover, he damned the Supreme Court and unlawfully held back Lagos State revenues due from federal sources on account of his pettiness against Governor Bola Tinubu.

On the other hand, in Washington a few weeks ago, the US President Joe Biden at a meeting with African Heads of States and Government described President Buhari as a champion of democracy and role model for the leaders of African states.

Clearly, Obasanjo has become even more jealous by adopting a vengeful attitude.

Four, to say that “frying pan to fire” is the situation in Nigeria at this time should be read to mean a personal experience to him and we know what that means.

“Hell” for Obasanjo is when a President, any President that comes after him refuses to be his own puppet, to do as he wishes on all matters and at all times.

He then keeps attacking out of frustration.

Obasanjo’s vengeful attitude towards President Buhari is the height of selfishness and little short of moral squalor

'Something is fundamentally wrong' - Gov Wike mocks Atiku over Obasanjo’s endorsement of Peter Obi

Governor Nyesom Wike has mocked the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of Labour Party’s Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 General election.

Atiku was vice president during the Obasanjo administration between 1999 and 2007. However, in his New Year's day message on Sunday, January 1, Obasanjo endorsed Peter Obi as his preferred candidate for the 2023 Presidential election.

Speaking at the flag-off of a road construction in the state today January 2, Governor Wike said;

“I was praying that Obasanjo should not say anything. When I saw the letter last night, I was touched. If your principal cannot recommend you, then there is something fundamentally wrong.

After all, you people went to see your principal to lobby him to recommend you. It took your principal a long time before he now wrote a letter to all Nigerians, saying, ‘Look, I am not too comfortable [with Atiku]’. I am not bothered about other people but this one [Obasanjo] worked with you and he knows [why he took that decision].”

He told Empress that she should stop telling people that he cannot leave Nigeria because that's a lie and he has left already.

He then added that he misses her so much.

He said: "I swear to God I just miss you. Seriously, I do miss you. To be real, I really miss you. No joke about it, trust me, I really miss you. But please,  stop telling people that I can't travel."

RIP DR UYI..... THIS DOCTOR WAS MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD

*WHILE WE MOURN*

IT is with pain, heavy heart,
frightening disbelief and utter shock that the Class Welfare Committee bring to our notice, the passing onto glory of a friend, Colleague, brother and an Alumni of our great Alma mata; *Dr Uyi Iluobe*, whose sad event happened yesterday within the Oghara environs of Delta State: The information available to us is, he was to treat a patient who presented to his facility with wounds suspicious of those from gun shots but he requested for a police report. While they are at it the patient was unfortunately lost and the friends of the patient who brought him to the hospital came back for our colleague and he subsequently suffered GSW from the assailants.

Your demise is too hard for us to accept and we still cannot decipher that you have gone so early even while at your duty post serving mankind, leaving behind your wife, our colleague and the wards.

The memories we all shared while in AAU and beyond, your friendly disposition and attitude to life remains a reference point.

Though short lived but God actually knows the best, we are glad you have touched lives through the instrumentality of our noble profession.

And we will cherish your memories forever and you will always be alive in our hearts. Surely, you will be sorely missed.

We commiserates with his family members, Associates, AAU Medical Community and his loved ones.

May God grant us all much strength to cope with the reality of the irreparable loss.

We shall be bringing the burial arrangements to our notice once concluded and announced by the family. The Alumni body is also aware of this untimely death.

Kindly do our late brother the honour of writing a tribute on his ForeverMissed page. 🙏🏼

May his gentle soul rest in peace.

As you where.
