ATIKU REACTS TO OKOWA'S DEFECTION TO APC

Atiku Break Silence

I have been overwhelmed with inquiries from concerned Nigerians, all eager to understand my position on the latest political shifts, particularly the defection of some PDP members to the ruling party.

Let me be unequivocal: freedom of association and expression are not optional in a democracy — they are fundamental rights. Alongside these stand the pillars of a just and functional democratic society: the people, the rule of law, credible elections, and accountability. Undermine any of these, and democracy itself begins to crumble.

As someone who holds fast to these values, I bear no grudges against anyone for exercising their right to political alignment. Defections, alliances, and realignments are part and parcel of democratic politics. We’ve seen them before, and we’ll see them again.

Some have resorted to insults because I visited former President Muhammadu Buhari. Let’s not rewrite history: Buhari is not only a former leader but a significant statesman in the Nigerian political landscape. During the 2013 opposition merger, the leaders of the time consulted widely — including visits to Obasanjo and Babangida. So why is it now sacrilegious for me and other leaders to visit Buhari in Kaduna? If you truly believe in freedom of association, then you must respect the rights of all political actors to engage, regardless of party lines.

When PDP leaders are busy sipping tea and brokering power deals with President Tinubu, it’s called strategic alliance. But the moment I greet Peter Obi, el-Rufai, or visit Buhari, it becomes a national emergency. Hypocrisy and the politics of selective outrage have never been this fashionable!

Let us be clear: the coming political battle is not APC versus PDP, or LP versus APC. It is Nigerians versus an administration that has plunged the nation into untold suffering. The economy is in freefall. Inflation is choking the masses. Jobs are vanishing. Youth restiveness is surging to terrifying levels. Nigerians are not just tired — they are angry, and rightfully so.

This moment is about collective survival. The real enemy is not one another — it is the Tinubu administration’s abysmal failure. We must reject every attempt to distract us with ethnic, regional, or religious sentiments. These are tools of manipulation, designed to divide and conquer, used by those with nothing else to offer.

The Tinubu administration has no achievements to stand on, no credible record to defend. Its only strategy is chaos and division, because that’s the last refuge of the incompetent. And make no mistake— an incompetent captain does not only wreck his ship; he endangers the lives of everyone on board. -AA

WATCH VIDEO OF ALL OKOWA SAID TODAY ON ARISE TV.......I Regret Running With Atiku in 2023

Watch the video below

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1UiDdy7gNj/

Immediate Governor of Delta State Nigeria, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has said he regretted his decision to run as the vice-presidential candidate alongside Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election, admitting that it contradicted the zoning and wishes of his people.

Speaking on Arise Television, Okowa described his acceptance of the role as a misalignment with the prevailing sentiments in Delta State stating it was an issue he said he has deeply reflected upon.

He said, “Even when we were campaigning, I realised our people were not interested in having another northerner come into power.

“But the decision had already been taken at the federal level by the party (PDP) and I had been nominated. Still, in retrospect, I now believe I should have gone with the will of my people.”

He also fired back at former Senate President Bukola Saraki for criticising his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okowa, former presidential running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP in the 2023 general elections, said that Saraki lacks the moral standing to comment on or criticise his defection.

“I did not expect that someone like Senator Bukola Saraki should be able to speak concerning me, because he knows that he had also moved to APC before and eventually returned,” Okowa said.

“So he has had movement to and fro. So, I don’t think that he has the moral right to even speak about my defection at all.”

Okowa explained that the decision to defect was not taken lightly and was a collective resolution by key political figures in Delta State.

He said it was necessitated by internal crises and a lack of strategic direction within the PDP.

“Several things have been going on in the party. While I do not want to join issues with people, as stakeholders, our leaders in this state have sat down to look at the events in the last several months,” Okowa noted.

“Because of the events that we see and the communications coming out from the leadership of the PDP at the moment, it did not appear to us that that was a proper political vehicle for us to continue in.”

He further pointed to the PDP governors’ resistance to forming a coalition and the ongoing leadership crisis as clear signs that the opposition party is not prepared for serious political competition ahead of the 2027 general elections

Why Delta PDP Joined APC – Charles Aniagwu

The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has further explained why the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decided to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on This Morning on TVC, Aniagwu said that remaining in the PDP, given its current challenges, would not advance the development of Delta State or its people.

According to him, the decision to leave the party was carefully and primarily taken to avoid leading the state and its citizens into a bleak future, similar to the experience of Zamfara State.

"You will recall that since 1999, when the present Republic began, the PDP has held sway in Delta and made significant inroads in the state.

"In Delta, the PDP was actually strong before our decision to move. So, it's not a question of the PDP being weak in Delta that led to this development.

"I am very sure we have followed the developments at the national level of the party. The last straw was when the party’s governors met in Ibadan and decided not to collaborate or merge with anyone. Instead, they invited others to join them. That decision did not come from a position of strength, especially given the issues affecting the party’s vital organs.

"You may also recall what happened to the APC in Zamfara in 2019, where all elected candidates were removed due to irregularities in the party’s nomination process”.

"With what is happening in the PDP, we believe the efforts to address these issues are not strong enough to prevent a similar situation in 2027."

Aniagwu further stated that the move to the APC was also driven by a desire to further strengthen the relationship and cooperation with the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu.

"The present administration has been fair in bringing development to Delta, because all politics is local.

"I am discussing the situation as it affects us in Delta, other states may have different views, but we have evidence that the Tinubu administration is bringing projects to our state.

"The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has visited Delta twice to show support for our people. These developments, along with issues in the PDP, led the party leaders in Delta to chart a new course.

"This was not just the Governor’s decision, but a collective one. In a democracy, the majority view matters, and PDP leaders and stakeholders in Delta called on the political family to join the APC to advance the growth and development of our state.

"The people felt the PDP no longer offered a viable political future, and they did not want to fade into political irrelevance, hence the move."

Responding to criticisms from PDP leaders, particularly Senator Bukola Saraki and Chief Olabode George, Aniagwu said some individuals should refrain from commenting, especially when their past actions contributed to the fragmentation of the PDP.

"You will recall that in 2023, some leaders openly opposed the party’s presidential candidate. Nonetheless, we ask them to be understanding because, ultimately, politics is local.

"This move is to ensure the continued progress and welfare of our people, which is why we are in politics in the first place."

He appealed to party members to work together to ensure unity and electoral success both in the state and across the country.

DO YOU AGREE ? Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa: The Smartest Political Leader in Nigeria’s History**

**

In the ever-evolving chessboard of Nigerian politics, where every move counts and timing is everything, one man continues to play the game with unmatched finesse, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. His recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sent ripples through the political landscape, sparking debates, admiration, and calculated criticisms. But beneath the surface lies a masterstroke, one that may yet prove him to be the smartest political leader in the history of Nigeria.

Okowa has always been a man ahead of his time. From his days as a Commissioner in Delta State to his stellar performance as Governor, and later as Vice Presidential candidate under the PDP, he has consistently demonstrated strategic thinking, people-oriented leadership, and political maturity. But his recent move to the ruling APC may be the boldest and smartest yet.

Why This Move Matters

Many see defection as a betrayal, but for seasoned political minds, it is a tool of repositioning, especially when done with the future in mind. As the 2027 general elections loom, tensions are high, and the national balance is delicate. Nigeria needs stabilizers, not agitators. And Okowa, known for his bridge-building personality and diplomatic skills, has chosen to align with the power bloc, not for personal gain, but to calm the storm before it begins to rage.

His move is not one of desperation, but of vision. He understands that real influence is not always in opposition, but in presence, at the table where decisions are made. And in joining the APC, he has placed himself in a position where he can mediate, influence, and possibly redefine the power dynamics of 2027.

The Genius of Timing

What makes this move particularly smart is its timing. By jumping ship now, Okowa avoids the chaotic rush of pre-election defections, where motives are easily questioned and credibility is at stake. He steps into the house early enough to earn trust, build alliances, and stake a rightful claim in the conversations that will shape Nigeria’s next leadership.

A Stabilizer, Not a Spectator

Nigeria, as we approach 2027, does not need more politicians, it needs strategists. It needs leaders who can see beyond party lines and personal interests. Okowa’s defection sends a clear message: “I am not here to watch things fall apart, I am here to prevent it.” He is positioning himself as a stabilizing force, one who understands the pulse of the South-South, the temperament of the North, and the expectations of the youth.

Whether you agree with his move or not, one thing is clear: Okowa does not play to the gallery. He plays to win. Not just for himself, but for a Nigeria that desperately needs calculated, courageous, and visionary leaders.

In Conclusion

Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa may have just pulled off the smartest political move of this decade. And if history is fair, it will remember him not just as a politician who switched parties-but as a strategic thinker who saw the storm coming and moved to steady the ship.

In a country where many chase power, Okowa seeks purpose. And that, perhaps, is what makes him the smartest political leader in Nigeria’s history.

RIP......GOV Oborevwori Mourns Shimite Love....SEE WHAT HAPPENED ACCORDING TO SAHARAREPORTERS

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden and tragic passing of his Special Adviser on Trade and Export, Chief Shimite Love.

She died in the early hours of Monday.

Governor Oborevwori in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Monday in Asaba, extended his heart-felt condolences to the people of Oshimili North Local Government Area, particularly the Ebu community, mourning the loss of a respected politician.

Describing her as an accomplished, intelligent, and charismatic political figure, the Governor praised Chief Love’s commitment and excellence in every public role she held.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the loss of an exceptional professional and elegant politician who passed away in Asaba on Easter Monday.

Continuing in the statement, Oborevwori said; “She served Delta State with distinction, and until her death, and was diligently leading our export initiatives as Special Adviser on Trade and Export.”

The Governor lamented that her demise came at a time her expertise was most needed, noting that her absence would be deeply felt by the government and people of the state.

He offered prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul and urged God to comfort her family.

SHIMITE BELLO DIES OF ALLEGED FOOD POISONING

Popularly known as Madam Sabificate, Shimite allegedly died of poisoning on Easter Sunday. Family sources told SaharaReporters that her husband, Pastor David Favour Love, has been arrested by the police following allegations that he poisoned her. Witnesses claimed she was foaming at the mouth before her death.

Mrs. Shimite Bello Love (née Nwakalo), Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, has died under circumstances that have sparked serious suspicion and controversy.

The late adviser reportedly passed away at St. Luke's Hospital, Asaba, where she was rushed for emergency treatment.

Shimite, who contested the Oshimili North constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly during the 2023 PDP primaries, had previously served as the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency during Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration.

She was also the Group President/CEO of the Quintessential Group—a conglomerate comprising NGOs, social enterprises, and companies operating in agriculture and solid minerals.

A family member, who requested anonymity, told SaharaReporters that Shimite was in good health just a day before her death.

"I spoke with her for over an hour on Saturday. She was vibrant and told me about a meeting she had earlier attended. Nothing was wrong with her," the source said. "On Sunday, I sent her Easter messages, but she didn’t reply—which was unusual."

According to the source, the family's alarm was raised when Shimite’s maid called her elder brother, expressing concern that the husband had locked Shimite in the house all day.

"Her brother rushed over and found her inside the house with foam already coming out of her mouth. He took her to the hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival. The police were immediately called and arrested her husband."

Family members allege that Shimite’s husband had isolated her from loved ones and tightly controlled her movements.

"Since he came into her life, he cut everyone off. Her brother couldn’t even visit. He wouldn’t let her go to the office. He was always trailing her. Even the name on all her properties in Abuja and elsewhere was changed to his name. We believe she was manipulated—hypnotised even," a family source said.

"If she were not hypnotised, which woman with her right senses would do such? What kind of love is that your husband would follow you everywhere you went, and you wouldn’t see anything wrong with that? Your husband would lock you in and not allow you to go to the office?

"Anytime you tell Shimite about certain things, she would tell you, 'Don’t worry, my husband is a pastor. He’s my spiritual father. He sees everything.' It's very unfortunate Shimite had to learn the hard way. How could a special adviser to a governor just die like that?"

Sources close to the family described Pastor David as “overprotective” and “jealous,” and suggested he was intimidated by Shimite’s prominence and beauty.

"The man had nothing before meeting her. He only came to drain her. It’s heartbreaking."

Efforts to reach the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, were unsuccessful, as his mobile line was unreachable at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, Shimite’s body has been deposited in the mortuary as police investigations into her death continue.

Police Clarifies Chief Shimite Bello's Death, Says Husband In A Protective Custody

Agboje Chuks

The Delta State Police Command has stated that Chief Shimite Bello's husband is currently in their protective custody, not under arrest. This clarification follows rumors suggesting his arrest in connection with his wife's death.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed Chief Shimite's death upon arrival at a hospital. He explained that the husband reported her death and expressed concerns about threats from her family. "He was the one who called to report that his wife had died early that morning and that he was receiving threats from her family, who feared he might be attacked. It was on this basis that we went to his house and brought him in for his own safety," Edafe said.

Edafe emphasized, "We must emphasise that he is not under arrest. His custody is purely for his protection at this stage."

The situation evolved after the deceased's family filed a formal complaint alleging possible foul play. "The deceased’s family later came to the station and made an official complaint. They believe there may be more to her death and are suspicious of the husband’s involvement," Edafe disclosed.

In response, the police have launched a full investigation, including an autopsy to determine the cause of death. "We are currently investigating. In situations like this, only an autopsy can determine whether the death was natural or due to other causes," Edafe added.

The Command assures the public that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
