WOW.........18year-year-old living under bridge wins chess, mental maths competition

Fawaz, an 18-year-old bus conductor who has spent years living under the Oshodi bridge, won the overall chess and mental mathematics championships at a competition held in Oshodi, Lagos.

The event tournament was organized by the Chess In Slums Initiative, an organisation dedicated to involving children and other young people living in slums.

Adeoye used to say he wanted to be a comedian and musician, but now he works as a bus operator.

Fawaz’ life is going to change for the better, as donations are already coming in to finance his education and that of his fellow contestants. It’s stuff like these that dreams are made of.

In addition to the financial prize and other prizes he has earned, Dr. Adeola Olubamiji, the founder of StemHub, reacted by stating her wish to send him a sum of two hundred thousand naira.

She tweeted;

I would like to send him 200K prize. If he ever needs support, my husband was a chess champion from Mushin and represented Nigeria in international competitions. He attended OAU & Yaba Tech on scholarships. We can support him with what we can. Let’s get him off the streets!
