Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Campaign Council for Edo poll, has claimed that the entire Edo State gubernatorial exercise was marred by irregularities from officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Uzodinma berated the electoral Commission and accused some INEC officials of sabotaging the nation’s electoral system making it difficult for APC votes to count.
Uzodinma commended the Governorship Candidate of the APC in Edo, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for his resilience and doggedness.
DAILY POST reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday, declared Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State.
INEC’s Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh declared Obaseki winner of the election after polling a total of 307,955 votes to humble his closest challenger, Ize-Iyamu of the APC, who polled a total of 223,619 votes
But, the Governor in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku and made available to DAILY POST, on Monday, further described the conduct of INEC officials in the Edo Governorship Election as ‘shameful’.
The Governor, therefore, urged APC faithful and party supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, saying that what happened in Edo State is sabotage to Nigeria’s hard-worn Democracy.
