Obaseki and Oshiomole have been at loggerheads for many months over who will crontrol the affairs of the state chapter of their party. While Oshiomole who is a former governor of the state wants to control the party, the governor is of the opinion that he is the incumbent governor and should preside over the party.
The request for Oshiomhole's arrest was contained in a petition submitted to the Inspector-General of Police and Director-General of the Department of State Services by the Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shuaibu, today Monday, February 3rd.
The petition claimed that the APC National Chairman had consistently breached the peace of Edo State by ignoring lawful orders of constituted authorities. The state governor said his administration had banned political rallies in the state but Oshiomole has repeatedly flouted the ban and organized political rallies.
Governor Obaseki had in a viral video recently vowed to deal with Oshiomhole if he keeps disrupting activities of Edo APC.
