President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday called former President Goodluck Jonathan to sympathize with him following gunmen attack on his Otuoke, Bayelsa State residence.
President Buhari, in the telephone conversation, voiced his sadness over the “tragic and unfortunate attack.”
This was disclosed in a statement sent to Fidelis by Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
“He assured that the protection of life of the former leader and all citizens of the country will continue to be the major preoccupation of his administration.”
Fidelis Chidi had reported that on Tuesday, a soldier on guard duty was killed as unknown gunmen attacked the courtyard of Jonathan situated close to the bank of the river at Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The gunmen were said to have come through the river on five speedboats and opened fire on the soldiers.
