WAHALA.....''Stick only to your religious calling'' Presidency tells CAN Gen Sec, Rev. Musa Asake

hehehehe.............The Presidency has asked the General Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN,  Reverend Musa Asake to face his religious calling and not to meddle into politics. Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, made the call in a statement reacting to a press conference Reverend Asake had in Abuja in which he called on the Federal government to proscribe the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

Rev. Musa Asake said the leaders of MACBAN should be arrested and prosecuted for genocide against the Christian minorities in the Middle Belt. According to Asake, MACBAN is supposed to be a business group much like many other businesses and professional groups in the country but that MACBAN now combines bloodshed with its enterprise.

He stressed that the officials of the association are noted for making very inciting statements before and after the Fulani herdsmen attack vulnerable communities. Making reference to the recent killings in Benue state, Reverend Asake, said the President of Benue State Branch of Miyetti Allah, Garus Gololo, had come out to say that the herdsmen attacked the communities because 1,000 of their cows were stolen.
‘’Even if it was true that cows were stolen, who constituted Miyetti Allah into law enforcement agency, judge and jury to commit wholesale murder? President Muhammadu Buhari should overhaul the National Security Council with a view to sharing its membership equally between Christians and Muslims and possibly those who do not belong to either. No religion has a monopoly of competency, commitment and patriotism. Recently, the federal government once again dragged Nigeria to interfere in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict by voting against the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel at the United Nations. The non-aligned status of Nigeria demanded that Nigeria should have abstained from voting, either for or against, when the issue came up at the UN. ‘’Nigeria is a secular state and the issue of religion is supposed to be an individual conviction. While the choice of a nation’s capital is a political decision, the objection of the Palestinians to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, in this case, has a lot of religious undertones.’’ he said at the press conference
Reverend Asake added that while the federal government has taken the battle to Boko Haram terrorists, the Indigenous People of Biafra, the Badoo boys, the Niger Delta Avengers and other groups, the government has not shown any serious willingness to checkmate the murderous Fulani Herdsmen, adding that it shows a betrayal of confidence.
Reacting to Reverend Asake's comments, Garba Shehu in a statemet released last night, said
“Our attention has been drawn to reports of a press conference by General Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Dr. Musa Asake in which he passed a judgement on the constitutionality of certain actions of the Muhammadu Buhari administration. Unfortunately, he could (not) cite any valid cases of constitutional violations. President Muhammadu government poses no threat to the country’s democracy and Constitution. There are no cases of any violation of our sacred constitution and there will be none under this President. The respected religious leader should stick to his religious duties and leave politics for politicians.”
