police squad that tracked down and shot dead the notorious kidnapper
and armed robber, Henry Chibueze, aka Vampire has been praised.
Men of the Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, who were
deployed by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to Imo
State, to track down notorious kidnapper, Henry Chibueze, also known as,
Vampire and other members of his gang have been pictured.
The gallant IRT operatives was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, in Imo, Abia and Rivers States.
Vampire who escaped from prison custody on January 27, 2017, when
some gunmen believed to be his gang members stormed the Owerri High
Court in Imo State and rescued him, killing two persons while many
others sustained bullet wounds, was killed in a gun duel with the
police. Five other members of his gang, were also arrested by the police
team.
Gallant Abba Kyari was carried up and praised by his colleagues at
the Imo state police command during the display of Vampire's corpse and
his arrested members.
The
Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has revealed that the dreaded
armed robber, 'Vampire' threatened him and his family before he met his
death.

Henry Chibueze a.k.a Vampire, the slain kidnapper cum robber
threatened Governor Rochas Okorocha and his family before he met his
end.
Governor Okorocha disclosed this on Friday after the news about the
death of the criminal in a shootout with the police in Rivers
State. Okorocha said Vampire was angry with him because he announced a
N5million bounty for information that would have led to his capture.
The governor announced the bounty after Vampire escaped at the Owerri High Court premises.
“When his partners-in-crime took him away from the High Court a
few weeks back, I knew it would not be too long before his ugly chapter
would close,” Okorocha said.
Rochas commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim
Idris, for dispatching the special squad that worked with the Imo Police
Command that finally ended the ugly saga.
The governor also commended the Directorate of State Services (DSS)
who first arrested Vampire in Owerri as the arrest raised the
consciousness of security agencies and the public on the existence of
the hardened criminal.
He recalled that the declaration he made when he became governor in
2011, that no criminal would survive in the state was still valid and
that was the reason men like Vampire were arrested in Owerri.
The governor made his comment known in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo.
The sensational escape of Vampire on 27 January occurred at the
premises of Owerri High Court. The incident saw several prison officials
wounded,
The incident made the Imo State Police Command carry out a raid at
the Imo State Prison Command, where they recovered a good number of
mobile phones which inmates allegedly were using.
