Hmmm..... The
Lagos State Emergency and Management Agency has made a passionate
appeal to fishermen and others searching for medical doctor who jumped
into the Lagoon.
The Lagos State Emergency and Management Agency (LASEMA) on Tuesday
urged fishermen, business persons and other Nigerians that ply the
Lagos waterways to immediately report any floating body to the Marine
police.
The General Manager of LASEMA, Tiamiyu Adesina, made the call the
in Lagos, as search for the body of a medical doctor, Allwell Orji, who
jumped into the lagoon on Sunday, continues.
He said anyone with information about a body on the waterways could also call the Emergency Toll Free Number 767 or 112.
Adesina reiterated that a body which was earlier recovered from the
lagoon by the State Marine Office of the Lagos State Police Command on
Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, was not that of Orji.
The LASEMA chief said, “A body was recovered today from the
lagoon; the body was recovered by the state marine office of the Lagos
State Police on Awolowo Road.
“About five members of his family were there with the driver;
also, the Commissioner of Police, General Manager of Inland Waterways
and other relevant agencies were there.
“The family members looked at the body and confirmed it was not
the body of Dr. Orji; the clothes on the recovered corpse did not tally
with what Orji wore on the day of the incident.
“The unidentified body was handed over to LASEMA officials and
taken away by the State Environment Health Monitoring Unit (LASEHMU).”
According to Adesina, the search for Orji’s body continues and any
other investigation that will lead to the identity of the recovered body
will be handled by the police.
