Chei....Appeal Court sacks Jimoh Ibrahim as Ondo PDP governorship candidate, reinstates Eyitayo Jegede

Hehehe....Justice Ibrahim Saulawa of the Appeal court in Abuja has ordered the reinstatement of Eyitayo Jegede as the rightful candidate of PDP in this Saturday, November 26th, Ondo state governorship election. This judgment nullifies the candidature of billionaire businesman, Jimoh Ibrahim, who before now was recognized by INEC as the party's candidate.

Delivering judgment in an appeal filed by Jegede, Justice Saulawa set aside the October 14th ruling by Justice Okon Abang which recognized Jimoh Ibrahim as the PDP candidate for the election.Jimoh belongs to the Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction of the party while Eyitayo Jegede belongs to the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the party

Hehe....The former Minister has described the ruling by Justice Salauwa of the Appeal Court Abuja as victory for PDP. The Appeal court this afternoon ordered the immediate reinstatement of Eyitayo Jegede as the party's rightful candidate in this Saturday's governorship election in the state. The court sacked Ibrahim Jimoh who had previously secured a court ruling by Justice Abang, compelling INEC to recognize him as the party's governorship candidate.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Wednesday said factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Saturday’s Ondo election, Jimoh Ibrahim will be replaced with Eyitayo Jegede.INEC had earlier replaced Jegede’s name with Ibrahim following the ruling of an Abuja Federal High Court. The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the commission, Rotimi Oyekannmi, said the electoral umpire will obey the ruling of the Appeal court which set aside the Justice Okon Abang’s ruling which ordered the initial replacement of Jegede’s name with Ibrahim, Punch reports. According to Oyekanmi, the ruling of the appellate court should be served on the commission before Friday.Oyekanmi said, “Yes, the judgment as we followed, it shows that we must replace the name of Ibrahim with that of Jegede.“We will obey the judgment because this is an order coming from a superior court. We will abide by that decision.“However, we will expect that the judgment be served on us before Friday to enable us comply. When we are served, we will comply immediately.“But we are not going to shift the date of the election. We have passed that stage. The election is going to hold on Saturday, November 24 as scheduled.”
