Judges’ arrests: Go back to school and learn Democracy 101 – Oby Ezekwesili fires back at Garba Shehu

Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili
hehehehe....Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has lambasted Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, for tweeting that it was a treasonable offence for Nigerians to even suggest that the Federal Government, FG, would act outside the law, following the recent crackdown on alleged corrupt judges across the country by operatives of the Directorate of State Services, DSS.

Ezekwesili lambasted the presidency for daring to tell Nigerians how to think over the incident.
This is coming after the operatives of the DSS raided the official quarters of some judges at Abuja, Gombe, Kano and Port Harcourt and arrested at least four judicial officers.
Several reactions had trailed the arrests and the presidential spokesperson had tweeted @GarShehu: “To suggest that the government is acting outside the law in a dictatorial manner is to breach the interest of the state.”
Ezekwesili tweeted on her handle @obyezeks in response, saying: “Delete your Press Release.
“How dare you dictate what opinion citizens should express on any issue in a democracy?”
Ezekwesili stated that debates and opposition were the essentials of democracy, and that Shehu needed to take a class on “Democracy 101.”
She tweeted further, “Globally, public backing is a sine qua non for all successful anti-corruption wars. Only governments that consistently acted lawfully earned it.”
“I’ve often said judiciary is (the) weakest link in anti-corruption effort. Empower @officialefcc for greater work. DSS keep within your mandate.
“Why has a strong anti-corruption government not worked hard with @NGRSenate to confirm Ibrahim Magu of @officialefcc to bolster their work? Why?”
