Hehe..Authorities of the University of Port Harcourt have withdrawn their earlier announcement that the institution will re-open for academic activities on Monday, May, 23 2016.Deputy Registrar in charge of Public Affairs, William Wodi said the earlier announced Monday 23rd May resumption date was a proposal that had not been approved by the university’s Senate body.Wodi said the University’s Senate was expected during its 421 extraordinary meeting, to consider the proposed revised academic calendar for the 2015/2016 session of the institution."">He appealed to parents, guardians, students and
concerned stakeholders to discountenance the May 23rd resumption date pending an official memo from the institution. He regretted the inconvenience the information may have caused parents and students, but also promised to promptly inform the public whenever the senate gave approval to the proposed date of resumption.“The Senate has not yet met to decide on a date to resume or a date for the examination. It was based on a proposal that is yet to be approved by the Senate.“I wish to use this opportunity to state that the University of Port Harcourt is desirous of returning the University to resume normal academic activities. We are desirous of allowing our students to continue the reason why they were admitted into the University." “I wish to state categorically and without any avoidance of doubt that the academic calender of the 2015/2016 session will be uploaded on the website of the University and announced in the mass media when it is duly approved by the Senate of the University.“I want to use this medium to call on parents and students to discountenance our earlier call that stated that the University will be on May 23rd of May, 2015”, he stated.Recall that Wodi had earlier said the University will reopen on Monday 23rd May to enable students commence their first semester, after the university was closed down for over one month now following students’ riot.
