It was learnt on Thursday that the former DAAR Communications’ boss was taken to his Abuja residence in company of EFCC operatives who searched the house for evidence that may assist them in their investigation into the arms deal.
It was however not clear what the operatives of the anti-graft agency were looking for and whether they succeeded in taking away any document from the residence of the media mogul. He was said to have been taken back to the EFCC headquarters for further interrogation.
We recalls a 13-man committee was recently set up to probe the procurement of arms for the Armed Forces and defence sector from 2007 to date. The committee in its interim report to President Muhammadu Buhari opened a can of warms on the alleged fraudulent financial transactions during the period.
Security agencies have since gone after those indicted by the report . those indicted are former NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki, rtd, former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, ex-DAA Communications LTD boss, Chief Raymond Dokpesi among others.
But Dokpesi in his defence on Wednesday, said the N2.1bn he collected from Dasuki’s office, was meant for publicity and media campaigns during the 2015 general elections, adding that it was a contractual transaction.
