Chai...Bandits storm Owo, raid banks with bombs




Hmmm...Dare devil armed robbers struck in Owo town, Ondo State, on Thursday, shutting down activities as well as paralising pedestrian and vehicular movement in the community.
A resident, who spoke to our correspondent on the telphone, said the robbers began robbing the banks a few minutes to 5pm, closing strategic entres into the town.

Bandits, numbering about 10, struck in Owo town in Ondo State on Thursday, robbing several banks and killing a bank manager.
Our correspondent gathered that the armed robbers killed the Manager of one of the raided banks in the town and a bank staff during the robbery operation.
it was learnt that the deceased, whose identities were yet to be ascertained, were shot by the robbers when they refused to cooperate with them.

Three commercial banks including First Bank, Wema Bank and Skye Bank were attacked by dare devil armed robbers this evening.  Unfortunately several people, including a bank manager lost their lives. .


“We started hearing gunshots and as I speak to you, they are robbing nearly all the banks.
“The robbers are manning all the strategic places in the town and have deployed even bombs as you can hear the sounds even from far distances. I learnt they have moved to Skye Bank area and people have deserted the streets,” said the source, who spoke to our correspondent while the raid was ongoing.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Wole Ogodo, said the details from the incident were still sketchy, adding that the police had mobilised its men to deal with the situation.
“As I speak to you, we have heard about the incident but details are still sketchy. We have deployed our men in the scene. I will let you know when I get the details,” Ogodo said.
