The crisis rocking the Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Enugu State has continued unabated, as the Acting Chairman of the party in the state, David Aja, has appealed to the National Chairman of the party, Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, to intervene urgently in the crisis.
The Acting Chairman, in a letter dated November 3, 2014 titled “Blatant disregard of directives of the NWC and the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party by His Excellency Barrister S. I. Chime”, appealed to Mua’zu to prevail on Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State to allow him carry out his functions without threat or harassment.
The letter reads: “You will recall that following the resignation of Engr. Vita Abba, as the chairman of the Enugu State chapter of our great party on 20th October 2014, I was, in accordance with the party’s Constitution expected to take over the running of the party until the State Executive Committee meets to appoint a new chairman from the area the previous one comes from, pending the holding of elections for a new chairman.
“In spite of the foregoing, Barrister Oruruo purportedly again summoned another meeting of the State Executive Committee, allegedly at the behest of two thirds of the members of the Committee on 31st October 2014.
“Let me say sir, that I have already put in motion the process of calling a meeting of the State Executive Committee for the purpose of appointing a new chairman in accordance with the letter from the NWC.
