Those planning to disrupt 2023 polls will be met with full force of the law - Buhari

 

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that those planning to disrupt the 2023 general election will be met with “full force of the law“.

 

The President gave the warning in his new message on Saturday, December 31. Buhari stated that it is important for Nigeria to have another smooth transition of government to whoever the people have decided upon.

 

The statement read; 

 

“In year 2023, Nigerians go to the polls to exercise our right to vote and elect a new administration.

“It is an important year for our country to ensure that we have another smooth transition of government, to whoever the people have decided upon.

“This administration’s landmark Amended Electoral Act will ensure that we have free and fair elections across the Nation.

“We as Nigerians must also take responsibility to ensure we participate in ensuring that the 2023 elections are free and fair by not engaging in anti-state activities and other nefarious acts that may affect the run of the polls.

“We must also resist every attempt to be used by politicians to create unrest in any form to disrupt the elections. We, as the government, will ensure such activities are met with the full force of the law.”

 

Buhari added that Nigerians must continue to assist the armed forces by providing community intelligence and report suspicious moves.

 

He said; 

 

“As our security agencies continue to make the country proud, we must continue to assist our patriotic forces by providing much needed community intelligence.

“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that Nigeria remains safe and peaceful for us all. Therefore, we have a duty and obligation to support our troops and intelligence agencies by being alert and reporting anything suspicious.”

Brazil returnee arrested with 105 parcels of cocaine in candies on Christmas Day (photos/video)

 

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, intercepted a Brazil returnee, Agbasi Prosper Chux with 105 parcels of cocaine concealed in candies at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022.

 

 

A statement released by Femi Babafemi, spokesperson of the anti-drug agency, says the suspect was arrested at the ‘D’ arrival hall of the MMIA during inward clearance of passengers from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Doha on Qatar Airways on Monday, 25th December 2022 following credible intelligence.

''An initial search of the suspect’s two checked in bags almost made him a free man as there was nothing incriminating found there until the NDLEA officers took a second look at the duty-free shopping nylon bags containing packs of ‘candies’ he was holding in his hands.
A thorough examination of the duty-free shopping bags revealed the packs of candies inside were actually used to conceal 105 parcels of cocaine weighing 2.8 kilograms and 43 grams of cannabis.''

 

Babafemi stated that preliminary test conducted on a plastic bottle of body lotion also found in possession of the suspect also tested positive for cocaine with a total weight of 472 grams.

Delta hospital allegedly seizes newborn baby over N383,500 bill

 

A private hospital in Warri, Delta State has allegedly seized a newborn twin for non-payment of a N383,500 hospital bill. 

 

According to Punch, the mother of the twins, Mrs Akpesiri Ojiko delivered the two babies on November 17, 2022, at the general hospital Warri.

 

One of the babies was taken to the private hospital, Unique Health Medical Center, on referral by the general hospital as a result of a lack of bed space.

 

Narrating her ordeal, Mrs Ojiko appealed to the Delta State government and well-meaning individuals to assist in upsetting the medical bill to enable her to have access to her baby. 

 

"I give birth to the babies on November 17 last year, a male and a female at the general hospital Warri but the hospital management told us that they did not have bed space to accommodate the babies and they cannot keep the two babies in one bed," she narrated. 

 

"They started calling some clinics to refer the baby but we refused because we know some of these clinics they mention, and we told them that they are expensive and that can’t pay their bills. Finally, they referred us to Unique Health Medical Center here in Warri, we don’t have any options than to go," 

 

"The baby was to be discharged on November 27, 2022, but since we couldn’t pay the bill, the hospital seized the baby until we pay the balance the baby will not be released.

 

"The bill is N433,500 before my sister brought N50,000. We have paid N50,000 for my sister brought, then we will pay the balance of N383,500 for my baby to be released.

 

"My baby is about a month and some weeks while I have not set my eyes on the female baby for a month now, don’t even allow me to see her. Please I’m begging governor Ifeanyi Okowa and others to help me." 

 

It was also gathered that the father of the babies, Mr Destiny Ojiko, a Keke operator who ran away earlier on hearing the N433,500 hospital bill out of frustration had resurfaced crying for help.

 

When Punch contacted the hospital, the Doctor in charge said the female twin can’t be released to her mother except for the balance of N382,500 is paid.

Woman on the run after assaulting husband and nearly chopping off his manhood

 

The police in Kitutu Chache South, Kisii county of Kenya has launched a manhunt for a woman who assaulted her husband and nearly chopped off his manhood during a feud.

 

Confirming the alleged assault, the area police commander Anthony Keter said; 

 

"The information we have is that the prime suspect was not at the scene but we already following it up." 

 

Doctors who received the man at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, revealed that his intestines were hanging out and his manhood had been disfigured.

 

One of the doctors said the patient is receiving treatment at the facility's theatre. The medical expert said; 

 

"We have taken him to the theatre, he is in good spirits though."

Woman left in pain as ‘horns’ start growing out of her head (photos)

 

A woman in India is asking for help after growing horn-like features on her head that have left her in ‘unbearable pain’.

 

Mimiya Bai says doctors are ‘puzzled’ with her condition, which began three years ago.

Now aged 60, Bai is waiting for treatment and is in consultation with senior doctors even though her illness has been described as ‘beyond their understanding’.

Indian doctor Abhishek Jain believes Mimiya’s disease is known as a siliceous horn.

It can start anywhere on the body and is curable and treatable through surgery, he says.

 

 

Mimiya says people did not believe her when she first told them about her ‘horns’ and were ‘surprised’ when they saw her.

 

Speaking to New Indian, she said ‘no one knows the physical and mental pain’ she has faced.

‘For the last three years, I have been very upset’, she said. ‘I have pleaded with everyone, but no one listens to me. 

‘I am suffering from pain. I hope to God to get rid of this disease and also to get rid of this helpless suffering.’

Mimiya cannot be treated at district and small hospitals, so is awaiting treatment at larger hospitals in the country.

Her relatives have also been left ‘upset’ with the situation.

‘The doctors here have advised us to visit top specialists in the city, but we are unable to do it because of financial compulsions’, they said.

"Obasanjo is desperately envious of Tinubu" Adamu Garba says as Obsanajo endorses Peter Obi

 

Former Presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba has accused former President, Olusegun Obasanjo of being envious of APC presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

 

Garba, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, stated this on Twitter after Obasanjo endorsed Labour Party's presidential candidate Peter Obi.

 

Obasanjo had, in a lengthy New Year message to Nigerians, endorsed Obi for the 2023 election, saying he remains a better candidate.

 

 

However, the endorsement did not sit well with Garba, who took to his Twitter handle to express his displeasure.

 

He wrote, "Envy is an immense disease. I respect & continue to respect General Olusegun Obasanjo. However, I advise him to outgrow his envy of Tinubu at this stage of his life.

 

"Obasanjo is desperately envious of the rise and shine of Bola Ahmed Tinubu; his lost (sic) in this one is sure to come."

 

Garba added: "It is a well known fact that Obasanjo never wanted any Yoruba man to grow above him while he’s still alive. Yet Bola Tinubu, his arch political rival, who dethroned him from South West Politics is about becoming the President of Nigeria. His actions should not surprise you.

 

"Obasanjo want to remain the only living Yoruba man to use the GCFR title. He never wanted anyone to get that. But we’ll promise him one thing, by God’s Grace, we’ll be inviting him to the swearing-in ceremony of Tinubu on May 29, 2023 as commander in chief and GCFR, insha Allah."

A Pastor identified as Mthetheleli Jakavula has slammed South African entertainer, Babes Wodumo for saying that all men cheat. 

 

Wodumo had stated this during the funeral of her husband, popular musician, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, who died on Christmas Eve, December 24, after suffering a stroke.

 

Addressing hundreds of mourners in Durban’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, last Friday, she paid tribute to her husband and told his mother she “forgives” her.

 

Babes Wodumo then spoke about her husband and his influence on her life during the burial, which was attended by numerous members of the entertainment business.

 

She claimed that her husband refused to give her his phone pin while he was still alive, and he passed away without her being aware of it.

 

She continued by saying that she was aware that he had been having an extramarital affairs and that all men cheat and act foolishly. 

 

Reacting to Babe's speech at the funeral, pastor Mththeleli said that he has never cheated on his wife in nine years of their marriage. 

 

"Babes wodumo made a very presumptuous, erroneous, nonsensical and dangerous statement. I saw the majority at the funeral explauding absolute baloney over a vain statement when she said: "There's no man who doesn't cheat". Her experiences with her late husband are not authoritative and unequivocally not the barometer," he wrote.

However in a live session with media personality, Daddy Freeze, last night, Blessing Okoro stated that people can meet people they eventually fall in love with at their place of work.

 

The self-acclaimed relationship expert who did not confirm or deny her alleged affair with IVD, added that she doesn’t owe the public any explanation as it is her private life.
 

She also alleged that many are running with the narratives online without even hearing IVD’s side of the story of the alleged domestic abuse.

 

Presidential elections of 2003, 2007 and 2011 were massively rigged – President Buhari's nephew, Mamman Daura

 

Mamman Daura, nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari has claimed that the presidential elections of 2003, 2007 and 2011 were massively rigged by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

 

Speaking in a documentary on the president titled “Essential Muhammadu Buhari”, Daura claimed that the consistent rigging and lack of trust in the electoral system is one of the reasons Buhari “broke down” during his presidential campaign in 2011.

 

Recall that in one of his campaign meetings in 2011, Buhari said it would be his third and last attempt at the presidency. “I will not present myself again for election into the office of the president,” he had said wiping tears from his eyes.

 

Daura however claimed in the documentary that Buhari did not break down in tears because he was worried about defeat, rather “he broke down in pity for the system (electoral) in the country.”

 

The President's nephew further stated that he knows that the three elections were rigged because he approached Buhari’s lawyer after the 2007 election to demand the results of some states.

 

He also said that the widespread rigging made Buhari enter a merger with other political parties in 2013.

 

Daura added; 

 

“…He gave me the one for Imo State. I went over the result carefully and I saw PDP, Yar’Adua – 25,000 votes and Buhari – 5,000, and so on. All round figures throughout. Even the winner of the election, Yar’Adua had said the election was faulty.”

 

The claim was backed by President Muhammadu Buhari in the documentary. According to the Nigerian leader, the PDP “were so confident that nobody could remove them and they were also not careful.”

 

He also recalled how his former party, Congress for Progressives Change, convinced political players like Bola Tinubu of the then All Nigeria Peoples Party and Rochas Okorocha from a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance – to form a merger that resulted in the APC that eventually delivered victory for him in the 2015 general elections.
