Men disclose the opposition they face when people see them taking care of their children

 

Some men who play active roles in caring for their children have taken to Twitter to complain about society's perception of their roles and how people seem to think it's unusual for them to be doing 'mommy's' work.

 

A father, Damilola Praiseworth began by  sharing how a nurse in the hospital saw him changing his son's diapers and looked at him with disdain while asking,  'why is daddy doing mommy's job? Please give the baby back to his mother.'

 

He went on to narrate other experiences, adding that when they see him doing things for his child, they assume his wife is incompetent.

 

He condemned this perception and said men should be as much involved in the care of their children as women and such men shouldn't be praised like they are doing anything exceptional. 

 

He wrote: 'It's sad to see that our society has given silly excuses for men not to be involved or responsible & instead focus on training women on how to cope with irresponsible men like there's no other way. And when they see a man who is loving & involved, he is perceived as a weakling.

 

'While there are irresponsible men, I have seen more sincere young men who want to do better & be more responsible but don't know how to start because at the slightest try, they get push back from society with statements like "Don't you know you are a man? Why are you doing this?"'

A Nigerian man was filled with gratitude to God after surviving a ghastly accident along 
Okija Road in Anambra state. His car was left a complete write-off after it was crushed by a trailer.

 

In a video that has since gone viral, the man said the trailer climbed and crushed his car, however, he came out alive with his brother who he was driving with.

NA WA........34 suspected internet fraudsters arrested in Oyo and Lagos State

 

Thirty-four suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested in Oyo and Lagos State.

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday, April 1, that the suspects were apprehended in separate operations in Ibadan and Lagos.

 

“Twenty-four of the suspects, most of whom claimed to be undergraduates, were rounded up today April 1, 2021, at their hideout in Apete area of Ibadan, Oyo State by operatives from the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Commission,” EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren said in the statement.

 

The suspects were identified as Isiaka Quadri Olawale, Ojubanire Akindimeji Abdulquadri, Shobowale Michael Morenikeji, Adeyemi Yusuf Ekundayo, Alabi Gift Jesse, Owolabi Yakubu Joseph, Olasupo Ogooluwa Ayomide, Emmanuel Segun Omogbolahan, Mufutau Sarafa Adewale, and Adekunle Habeeb Olamilekan.

 

Others include Usman Abdullahi Olamilekan, Adurota Emmanuel Tosin, Adekunle Ibrahim Babatunde, Adeyiga Ayobami Emmanuel, Olubanji Remilekun Michael, Ibrahim Damola Iremide, Okunlaja Joshua Opeyemi, Aiyelokun Bolaji Emmanuel, Akintokun Olalekan Ibukunmi, Kehinde Victor Boluwatife, Oni Olanrewaju Gabriel, Shobowale Samuel Durodola, Owolabi Quadri Damilola and Monday Blessing Patrick.

 

According to the anti-graft agency, the early morning raid followed actionable intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet-related crimes.

 

The arrest led to the recovery of valuable items, including four exotic cars, mobile phones, laptops, SIM cards, and several incriminating documents.

 

The remaining ten suspects were arrested by Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Office on March 30 at Horizon II Estate, Meadow Hall Way, Lekki, Lagos following credible information on their alleged criminal activities.

 

The suspects are allegedly involved in romance scam, unemployment benefits scam, identity theft, and purchase of malicious tools to compromise corporate email accounts and intercept email messages. 

 

The suspect were identified as Daniel Udegbe, Taiwo Akintimehin, Abiola Opeyemi, Great Shayo Akintimehin, Dikoyejo Damilola Emmanuel, Ibiayinabobo Daso, and Toheeb Alhassan.

 

Others are Michael Ofoedu Obinna, Sanni Azeez, and Ridwan Adeyinka Songonuga.

 

Items recovered from the suspects include mobile phones and laptop computers.

 

The EFCC spokesman said they “would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”

Two girls, 14 and 15, are 'gang-raped' by eight men in a forest for hours until they passed out

 

Eight men have been arrested in India after two girls, aged 14 and 15, were dragged into a forest and gang-raped for hours until they passed out. 

 

The sad incident occurred on Monday, March 29 in Khowai, Tripura.

 

The victims, who were friends, had been out celebrating Holi, the Festival of Love with the group of men, aged between 19 and 22, who they knew from the local area.

 

After the festival celebration, the two girls failed to return home in the evening, the Times of India reports.

 

The eight men allegedly took the girls into a nearby forest and gang-raped them until they passed out. 

 

The victims only returned home on Tuesday morning and were suffering from injuries. They were later rushed to the hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries.

 

After explaining what had happened to them, the girls' parents contacted the police, leading to the arrests of Bimal Debbarma, Soyel Debbarma, Michael Debbarma, Nishit Debbarma, Biresh Debbarma, Jagu Debbarma, Bikash Debbarma and Hrishit Debbarma.

 

Speaking about the incident, a police officer said: 'The accused took the girls to a forest and gang-raped them through the night. When they passed out, the men left presuming them to be dead.'

CHEI.........Nigerian man, Babatope Aderinoye sentenced to 34 years imprisonment in US for defrauding senior citizens and charities of millions

 

A Nigerian man, Babatope Joseph Aderinoye, 30, was sentenced to 34 years in federal prison  in U.S.for violations related to a bank fraud and money laundering conspiracy.

 

Aderinoye, aka Eja Nla, lived a glamorous life - travelling to exotic locations, snapping photos with VIPs -  and flaunted them all on social media.

 

 

However, behind his glamorous life, he was defrauding US citizens and organisations of millions of dollars.

 

Operating out of Plano, in Texas, Aderinoye carried out schemes, which targeted senior citizens, school districts and charities.

 

According to FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Matthew DeSarno: "The defendant defrauded senior citizens, a school district, and a non-profit aimed at helping the families of the terminally-ill. The money stolen was needed for critical services, basic everyday necessities, and retirement.

 

"Business Email Compromise is a financially devastating scam that targets both businesses and individuals. The FBI is committed to holding cyber criminals accountable for the harm they do to everyday citizens and our financial institutions."

 

CBS DFW reports that according to information presented in court, Aderinoye would obtain fake passports in the names of others. He would then use those fraudulent passports and the identifying information of others to establish false business entities and fraudulent bank accounts.

 

To this date, 13 individual aliases, 12 business aliases, and over 40 fraudulent bank accounts have been tied to Aderinoye, and there is evidence to suggest more aliases exist.

 

 

Once Aderinoye opens the fraudulent bank accounts, co-conspirators would engage in various business email compromise scams and telephone compromise scams to defraud individuals and businesses out of money.

 

In these scams, co-conspirators would pose as a known individual and direct the targeted victims to wire or send funds to Aderinoye or the fraudulent accounts Aderinoye had set up. Once the ill-gotten money is posted in Aderinoye’s fraudulent accounts, he would immediately withdraw the funds, transfer the monies to other fraudulent accounts, or wire them internationally to a bank account he had set up in Nigeria.

 

The illicit proceeds were used to pay off co-conspirators and further fund their fraudulent schemes.

 

 

From June 2018 through September 2019, over $6.7 million was deposited into alias accounts of Aderinoye, with almost all of those funds being withdrawn or wired internationally. 

 

Babatope Aderinoye was convicted by a jury on Oct. 14, 2020, of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering; wire fraud; aggravated identity theft; and mail fraud.

 

He was sentenced to 34 years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant. He was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,919,526.13.

 

Acting U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei said: "The types of fraud committed by Mr. Aderinoye and his co-conspirators not only have lasting ramifications for the affected victims, but also threaten the integrity of our country’s financial systems.

 

"While today’s sentence is a decisive victory for the victims of Mr. Aderinoye and his co-conspirators, the overall fight against cyber fraud continues. EDTX will do everything in its power to bring other cyber criminals to justice, and to recover ill-gotten gains for those victimized."

Newly married woman reveals the difference in how people treat her now that she's married

 

A Twitter influencer has pointed out the difference in the way people treat her since she got married.

 

The woman, popularly known on Twitter as Sansa, got married last year after a public fallout and drama with her ex-boyfriend.

 

She explained that since she got married, people have been treating her with more respect because she now "belongs" to a man.

 

She said in 2021, this shouldn't be so, and everyone deserves respect irrespective of their marital status.

Traditional ruler embarrassed after wife appeared stark naked during virtual parliamentary meeting (video)

 

South Africa's National House of Traditional Leaders, through its chairman Ikosi Sipho Mahlangu have issued an apology after a naked woman accidentally appeared on screen during a virtual meeting of Parliament’s portfolio committee on co-operative governance and traditional affairs.

 

A member of the National House of Traditional Leaders, Inkosi Xolile Ndevu who seemingly never told his wife that he was in a virtual meeting set Twitter abuzz after she appeared stark naked. 

 

Ndevu was busy explaining how the Eastern Cape province was working with medical doctors on the matter of initiate deaths, when his wife walked into the room stark naked, oblivious that she was appearing on national television.

 

Visibly disturbed portfolio committee chairwoman Faith Muthambi reprimanded Ndevu during the meeting, saying this had happened before. She said; 

 

“Inkosi, the person behind you is not properly dressed, we are seeing everything, yho! This is very disturbing what we are seeing. And this is not the first time this is happening, every time we see you, we see these unholy pictures. You are on live television."

 

An embarrassed Inkosi Ndevu apologised profusely for the incident saying that he was unaware that his wife had been in the background.

 

He said; 

 

“I’m very sorry. I was focusing on the camera and not behind me. I’m so embarrassed, chair.”

Speaking to TimesLive after the meeting, Ndevu claimed he was technologically challenged and had not received any training on using Zoom. He also claimed that the meeting had gone past the scheduled time of 10 PM when his wife appeared in the live meeting.

 

Ndevu said; 

 

“This Zoom technology is new to us and we were never trained. Our houses are not built so we can have privacy for these meetings.

“As the meeting continued after 10 pm, my wife came in to use the bathroom and was unaware I had the video feed on. I apologise."

 

Mahlangu who apologized on behalf of traditional rulers, also said the incident happened “as a result of an unintentional encroachment into the private space of a family of one of the participants in the committee meeting, and it is regrettable”.

 

He said; 

 

“Even though there are many benefits brought about by virtual meetings, there are inherent challenges. Virtual platforms have a propensity to encroach on individual private spaces as they sometimes allow for meetings to go beyond normal working hours, thus imposing on some of the family activities especially in the evening. 

“Many are having a difficult time adjusting to accommodate their personal and professional lives in what used to be a private space where quality time is spent with family. This ability to work remotely from home brings with it major challenges, as it encroaches on the privacy of family members.”

Update: Charles Soludo is safe - Anambra police commissioner, Monday Kuryas says

 

The Anambra state police commissioner, Monday Kuryas, has said that the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Anambra state governorship aspirant, Charles Soludo, is safe.

 

Soludo was attacked during a rally he was holding in Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of the state. Unknown gunmen stormed the venue, shooting sporadically into the air, killing three of the security details of the ex-CBN governor.

 

In an interview with Channels TV, the state police boss, Monday Kuryas, said Mr. Soludo is safe. He, however, disclosed that the state Commissioner for Public Utilities,  Emeka Ezenwanne, was abducted by the gunmen.

 

''The former CBN governor was holding a townhall meeting with the youths of his community called Isuofia in Aguata local government area of the state.

Suddenly, unknown gunmen attacked my men that were providing security for him. In the exchange of fire, three of my men were killed but the Professor is safe.

US President Joe Biden issues proclamation acknowledging March 31st as Transgender Day of visibility

 

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday issued the first presidential proclamation recognizing March 31st as Transgender Day of Visibility.

 

The day is now dedicated to celebrating transgender people and bringing awareness to the discrimination and violence they face every day.

 

In his proclamation today, Biden said Trans Day of Visibility recognizes the generations of activism by transgender and nonbinary people.

 

“Their trailblazing work has given countless transgender individuals the bravery to live openly and authentically,” Biden wrote. “This hard-fought progress is also shaping an increasingly accepting world in which peers at school, teammates and coaches on the playing field, colleagues at work, and allies in every corner of society are standing in support and solidarity with the transgender community.”

 

Biden explained that trans people “still face systemic barriers to freedom and equality,” such as higher rates of violence, harassment and discrimination.

 

''Nearly 1 in 3 trans people have experienced homelessness and they also face discrimination in employment, housing, health care and public accommodations.'' Biden said

 

“The crisis of violence against transgender women, especially transgender women of color, is a stain on our Nation’s conscience. Forty-four transgender people were killed in the United States last year, a record; 23 of them were Black trans women.'' he added

 

Biden said his administration has already started implementing new policies to protect trans people, such as the executive order he issued on the first day of his presidency to expand discrimination protections for LGBTQ people under federal laws such as the Affordable Housing Act.

 

He also mentioned, “the first openly transgender American to be confirmed by the United States Senate” Rachel Levine, the assistant secretary for health and “patriotic transgender service members, who are once again able to proudly and openly serve their country” a reference to his executive order undoing former President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender people serving in the military.

 

Biden also called on Congress to pass the Equality Act, a sweeping bill that would grant LGBTQ people protections from discrimination in employment, housing, education, credit, jury service, and more.

 

“To more fully protect the civil rights of transgender Americans, we must pass the Equality Act and provide long-overdue Federal civil rights protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity,” Biden wrote. “It will serve as a lasting legacy to the bravery and fortitude of the LGBTQ+ movement.”

Update: UK Police search Epping Forest for Nigerian student who has been missing for more than a week

 

A desperate search for a Nigerian student who has been missing for more than a week has been extended to Epping Forest after new CCTV sighting in Essex.

 

Richard Okorogheye, a 19-year-old student at Oxford Brookes University, hasn’t been seen since he left home in the Ladbroke Grove area of west London on the evening of Monday, March, 22, and was last seen boarding a bus.

 

His mother, Nurse Evidence Joel said her son, who had been shielding during the pandemic due to having sickle cell disease, had struggled with his online studies.

 

According to her, Richard left home at about 8.30 pm saying he was going to meet a friend but left his wallet, jacket, and medication behind. 

 

 

"All he said to me was 'mummy, I'm going to see my friend'. I trusted him, I had no doubt or no reason to ask him further questions," she said.

 

Earlier today, police released new CCTV images of Richard, which shows wearing all black and had a black satchel-bag with a white Adidas logo, worn across his lower back. 

 

He was also seen boarding the number 23 bus southbound in Ladbroke Grove at 8.44 pm on Monday, March, 22. It is unknown which stop he got off at.

 

Police have now revealed that he was seen in the area of Epping Forest hours later - and before he was reported missing.

 

 

Authorities have also established that Richard took a taxi to Loughton in Essex. They said he was captured on CCTV walking alone along Smarts Lane, Loughton towards Epping Forest at 12.39am on Tuesday morning, March 30.

 

 

The Met said detectives are working around the clock to trace his next steps after this sighting and had begun searches in and around the forest as well as carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

 

According to the Sun. the officials are also working alongside specialist search teams and colleagues from Essex Police.

 

Detective Chief Inspector Nicki Beecher, from the Met's Area West Public Protection Unit, said: "It has now been nine days since Richard was last seen in person and we remain as committed as ever to locating him and bringing him home to his family.

 

"Our officers are working extremely hard to piece together the facts in order to build a picture of Richard's movements on the evening of Monday, March 22.

 

"Latest information suggests he was last seen in Loughton in Essex and we are now focusing our attention here, with specialist search officers from across the Met brought in to assist.

 

"Our enquiries also continue in the Ladbroke Grove, W10 area where local officers have been carrying out search patrols and also community patrols to gather information from local residents.

 

"I would once again like to renew our appeal to the public for any information which may assist with our enquiries.

 

"If you may have seen Richard - particularly in the Loughton area - or have any information at all, please contact police."

Richard's mum Evidence Joel, believe he is being "held against his will" as he didn't even take a jacket or his vital medication.

 

She has pleaded with him to come home.

 

She said: “Richard, we love you and miss you very much, please can you come home.

 

"We aren’t angry at you. We just want to know that you’re okay.

 

“For anyone reading this, we are desperately missing our son. If you know anything or know where he might be, please come forward and speak to the police.”

Ned Nwoko, the billionaire husband of actress Regina Daniels, says marrying more than one wife helps save the society.

 

Nwoko in an interview with BBC Igbo, said the average northerner has at least two wives and this helps the society by preventing women from venturing into prostitution.

Nigerian Air Force aircraft goes missing during an operation in Northern Nigeria

 

The Nigerian Air Force has declared one of its aircraft missing in action.

 

A statement released on Wednesday night, March 31, by the Director of Public Relations of the Nigeria Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, states that the unspecified aircraft lost radar contact while on a mission in Northern Nigeria.

 

''A NAF aircraft on routine mission in support of own troops at one of the Theatres of Operation in the Northern part of Nigeria has lost radar contact. Efforts are currently ongoing to locate its whereabout. Details to follow.''his statement reads

The Nigerian man identified as Agwu, was celebrated by his girlfriends Prevail and Thicker Body today April 1. 

 

In the videos they shared, the ladies stated that they never knew they could love someone the way they love him.

Angry mob beats water vendor to death in Bauchi, burns his corpse for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad (photos)

 

A water vendor was reportedly beaten to death and his corpse set ablaze by religious extremists in Sade village, Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi state over alleged blasphemy. 

 

According to the Nigerian Tribune, the deceased identified as Talle Mai Ruwa, said to be 'mentally unstable,' was seized by a mob from a police Station in the village where he was being detained for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad, and lynched on Tuesday afternoon, March 30. 

 

According to the report, the irate mob beat him to death, dragged his lifeless body around the village before setting it on fire. 

 

 

A source in the village who spoke to Nigerian Tribune in Bauchi said that the late Talle who was hardworking and easy-going allegedly made the blasphemy on Monday March 29, when a girl came to fetch water from his water source, a borehole, without his consent.

 

The source narrated that the girl pleaded with the angry vendor in the name of God and the Prophet to allow her to fetch the water but he allegedly insulted her parents and the Prophet. 

 

His alleged blasphemous remarks triggered outburst and tension in the village such that the village head took him to the police outpost station in the village where he spent the night.

 

"The next morning (Tuesday), the issue spread everywhere and everyone in the village was provoked. Later, a group of angry youths stormed the police station, subdued the police officers around and grabbed Talle. He was beaten to death and his dead body was set ablaze" the source said. 

 

Another source said that the irate youths dragged him to the front of his compound where his aged mother helplessly watched his body being set ablaze and burnt to ashes.

 

SAD..........Nigerian beauty queen/PhD student, 24, shot dead in US

 

A former Nigerian beauty queen and doctorate student has been shot dead while sitting in her car in front of her family's home in Philadelphia.

 

Najeebat Sule, 24, who was known to her loved ones as Najee, was killed as she was texting a friend in her Toyota shortly before 6pm on March 12, just steps away from her residence in the 8800 block of Frankford Avenue.

 

 

At the moment, police have not found a motive and have made no arrests,  leaving Najeebat's family and friends searching for answers. They have also gone into hiding for fear of their own lives.

 

"I can’t think of anything that would make anyone want to kill her," Najeebat's close friend Habibat Magaji, told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

 

Magaji was among the last people to have seen Najeebat alive before she was shot.

 

The two women had spent the night before at Magaji's home, eating snacks and watching Netflix together. 

 

Less than 24 hours later, Najeebat was sitting in her gray Toyota Corolla, exchanging text messages with Magaji, when an unidentified man walked up to the vehicle with a gun drawn and shot her several times. 

 

Najeebat's father, Adewale Sule, heard the gunfire and came out from the house just in time to see the suspect fire the last of the shots at his daughter. 

 

Mr Sule said: "I saw the guy shooting my daughter. He shot the last round and I pursued him. He ran back to his car."

 

Najeet was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later. 

 

 

Her mother, Tawakalitu Sule, said she last heard from Najeebat less than two hours before the shooting, when her daughter asked her when she was going to be home. 

 

"All of my children have been crying every day because of their big sister. They really miss her. I miss my daughter," she said.

 

 

Najeet is survived by her parents and two sisters. 

 

"She was very talented, smart and funny," one of her siblings told 6abc.

 

The family are currently staying at an undisclosed location over unspecified concerns for their safety. 

 

Sule and her family moved to Philadelphia from Nigeria in the early 2000s.

 

Sule had only recently earned a Master’s degree in public health from West Chester University and was pursuing a doctorate.

 

 

In 2019, she was crowned a second runner-up at the Miss Nigeria International pageant.

 

 

The pageant organisers wrote on Facebook following her death: "Queen Najibat was an amazing young lady whose presence at the Miss Nigerian beauty pageant left a great ripple that continues to resonate. She was a breath of fresh air and her presence added a distinct touch that made the event memorable. She carried herself with great dignity and grace and her strength of character and approachability made her such a joy to work with."
