Some PDP govs ganged up against southern presidency – Wike

 

• Says North will no longer underrate South

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said some Peoples Democratic Party governors ganged up with some vested interest groups to derail the quest of southern Nigeria to produce the next president of Nigeria.

He said it was the agreement of the governors of southern Nigeria that the presidency should come to the South, and he did not betray that agreement.

Wike made the explanation at a grand reception organised by the Rivers people on Monday in Port Harcourt to welcome him back from Abuja after the PDP presidential primary.

Wike, in a statement by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, issued in Port Harcourt, described as shameful, the inability of some of those who were part of the agreement to stick to the agreement when it matter

The Rivers State Governor accused them of selling out and frustrating the collective efforts that would have secured the PDP presidential ticket by him for the South.

The statement read, “I contested in an election (primary) based on the principle and agreement with all southern governors and leaders of the South that presidency should go to the South this period.

“We have done our part. We never betrayed anybody because it is not in our blood to betray. But it is a shame to those people, some of the governors from the South, they are the people that were used to sabotage our course.”

Governor Wike said it was disheartening that some governors from the South, due to their inordinate ambition, could jettison the collective interest of the people they claimed to represent.

“Look at a region ganged up, then you, your region cannot gang up. You became tools to be used against the interest of your people, and you think you have won, you have lost.

“You will continue to be perpetual slaves. Rivers people, you don’t need to bother yourselves. The PDP needs us. If they say they don’t need us, they should wait,” he added.

The governor explained that he was propelled into the race to offer service and advance the interest of Nigeria, adding that in the process, he was confronted by a few individuals who wanted somebody they would control and he declined to be such a puppet.

“The winner (of the ticket) also saw it. They underrated us, but now, they will not underrate us again. We have all it takes to do whatever we want to do.

“It is a matter of you being firm, it is a matter of you being hopeful. There is nobody that is born greater than us in this country, therefore, we cannot answer second-class citizen. We can’t.

“We just used this one to tell them that enough is enough. We made them not sleep. We made them not eat. We made all of them from wherever they said they come from to know that there is somebody who can take them on.

“This country does not belong to one particular zone. If people are afraid of talking it is their business. I cannot be a second-class citizen in my country.

“Some of them, their in-laws are governors in the ruling party, but they want to interfere in what happens in the PDP. Some of them, their brothers are governors in the ruling party and they want to interfere in the PDP,” he added.

Governor Wike said with the presidential primary over, and given his pledge to work for whoever emerged, Rivers State would work to deliver the PDP and all its candidates in the 2023 general election.

The governor recalled that in 2019, despite the failure of the candidate he supported to clinch the ticket, Rivers State gave PDP massive votes and refused to negotiate with the All Progressives Congress to give them 25 percent votes.

“In 2019, I was the only governor from the South-South who never negotiated with the present government. They came, I said no, I was not going to be a party to that. And that is why APC never had 25 percent in this State (Rivers).

But, in all the other States in the South-South, the president got 35 percent to 40 percent. I said I was not going to sit down with them and negotiate.”

Governor Wike said he has even told the winner of the PDP presidential primary, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, that most of those hanging around him do not have electoral value.

He pointed out it would be imperative for such people from states, whether in the North or South, to deliver the kind of votes that Rivers State will deliver in the 2023 general election in order for the PDP to win the presidency.

Governor Wike said it was wrong for the party to have allowed the governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, to speak for a second time after the time allotted to each of the aspirants to address the delegates.

The Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, in his remarks, described the governor as an emancipator, who had solved a particular nagging problem in Nigeria, saying that was the issue of minority question.

The Chairman, PDP Rivers State, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, commended Governor Wike for his resilience and that the entire state and the Niger Delta were happy that he spoke for them.

Speaking on behalf of Rivers elders, former president, Nigerian Bar Association, Onueze Okocha (SAN), observed that Governor Wike contested the PDP presidential primary because he was motivated by his desire to serve the country and bring back the PDP to governance in Nigeria.

“You have done us proud. You’ve done Rivers State proud. You’ve done the country, the teeming masses of those who are yearning for capable leadership, you’ve done them proud. And they will continue to believe in you, they will continue to place their hope in you,” Okocha stated.

Kezia Irek, the wife of a politician in Akwa Ibom state, Hon. Robinson Uwak, has called him out for allegedly abusing her physically and threatening to kill her and her parents.

 

In a post shared on her Facebook page, Kezia stated that she got married to Uwak after he claimed he had finalized his divorce proceedings with his first wife. She said trouble started when she decided to end their marriage when she found out that he had not fully divorced his first wife. She accused Uwak of pulling a machete at her and threatening to kill her and her parents. She also mentioned that he vowed to flee to the US and send kidnappers to her so they can kill her and her parents.

 

She mentioned that Uwak said he will never allow another woman walk out of his life after his first wife did. She claimed he vowed he will never allow her to have custody of their children.

 

Posting photos of her injured body on her page, the distraught wife wrote

 

''HON. ROBINSON UWAK STRANGLED ME and ATTEMPTED to kill me when HE FOUND OUT I WAS TRYING to leave the marriage & he did this right in the room where my children were asleep.*

*He kicked my parents out of his house at 2AM after he put a machete to my mom’s neck and kicked her twice to the ground causing her to injure herself and break her phone.*

*He lied to me that he was not married to his ex wife anymore- that he was divorced.*

He is now threatening to kill me and my parents for me leaving him.

I got married to him after he deceived my family and I that he was divorced from his ex wife. Stating that his marriage was annulled because it didn’t legally exist- this was a lie. He deceived my family and I into being married to him.

I sit here in terrible pains from my head to my toes after I was terribly battered by my so called “husband” while he accused me of unfounded and blatant lies. My neck is swollen and hurts- I can’t swallow well- from how he tied my neck with the nape of what I was wearing and used both hands to strangle me telling me he will “kill me and go to jail.” He used his feet to stomp on my chest with all of his might and I have severe chest pains & aches. He slapped and pounded my skull with his fists so many times- hitting my head hard against the tiles in his room over and over while my children slept in the next room.

On the 27th of May around 8AM, He charged into my room where I sleep with my twins and started to accuse me falsely. Before I could open my mouth to even understand what was happening, he flung me on the floor and began to strangle me. I was screaming. I was horrified. He then told me to move to his room- next door- he locked all the windows and doors & commanded me sit on the floor & then proceeded to tell me that I can never leave the marriage- and break up his home- he said will kill my family and I. He said he is ready to commit murder. He said it doesn’t matter how long it takes, 5-10-15-20 years, that he will find my parents and I and kill us. He will use N50 million, even N100 million to send kidnappers and killers to end my life and that of my parents. He said I cannot embarrass him maritaly a second time.

That he only let his first wife go because she didn’t have kids. But he will kill me before I leave him. And that I cannot have custody of his kids. He said I will always look over my shoulder in this country for the rest of my life. and that he will leave to the U.S and pay people here in Nigeria to kill me and my parents. He swore over and over on a hard copy of the Bible that he will kill me & my parents.

He claims he uses the services of the SSS to track the phones of people in my life against their wills. Please his friends in DSS & SSS need to be investigated.

He threatens my friends and family at any provocation.

I found out he is still in a divorce tussle with his ex wife and I began to make moves with my lawyer on how to leave the marriage because it means my marriage to him is void & he’s committing bigamy.

He is lying that I’m interested in his property- and I want to kill him for his money- how is that possible when I’m trying to get the marriage declared void?-

I only want my kids and I’m not interested in the marriage again.

He said Nigeria is a lawless country and nothing can happen to him and even if I tell anyone all his threats, no one will believe me because I have no proof. But I have audio recordings of him saying this.

In January he put a machete to my mom’s neck and kicked her down twice to the coal tar in his estate- injuring her. That day, he kicked my mom & dad out of his house because I didn’t make noodles & eggs for him at 2am in the morning. He made me stand outside the house in the cold at 2AM like an animal for not making food.

The truth of his wickedness to me and my family are too many and horribly frightening! We have been living a nightmare! Please my life and the lives of my parents are in danger. I just want to live with my kids peacefully without the threat of death hanging over me. I didn’t do wrong to marry this man. My family didn’t do wrong to accept & believe him.

I have pictures, audios and videos of all I’m saying. I am tired of living in fear. I’m tired of being silent. My aged parents do not deserve this. They didn’t do wrong by allowing me marry him. They don’t deserve to die because they allowed me to marry him.

He said Nigeria is lawless & there is no law and order in Nigeria.

He said he will wait for the police, army and NAPTIP to be tired of my case- then he will kill me & my parents.

Primaries: Ebele Obiano clinches APGA's Anambra North senatorial ticket

 

Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in next year's Anambra North Senatorial Zone election. 

 

The former First Lady polled 152 votes, defeating her husband's former Chief of Staff, Chief Primus Odili who got 120 votes in the primary election held at the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium, Onitsha on Sunday, May 29. 

 

Two other aspirants, former Commissioner of Information and Communication Strategy under the Obiano administration, Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta and Mr Samuel Onwuteaka Jnr got two votes each.

Journalist, David Hundeyin last night dragged Bashir El-Rufai, son of Kaduna state governor after Bashir said he doesn't know who he is.

It all started when Bashir took to his Twitter handle to apologize to everyone he has ever insulted online.
 

A Twitter user who felt the message was directed at Hundeyin asked Bashir to just mention Hundeyin's handle as both men have in the past dragged each other online.

Couple mistakenly livestreams 45-minute of their sex session to synagogue via Zoom

 

A couple unknowingly live-streamed their steamy sex session via Zoom to a synagogue for around 45 minutes as people watched.

 

The middle-aged couple had joined a virtual synagogue hosted by the Twin Cities' Temple Beth El in Minneapolis, USA, on May 14, when they decided to have sex, not realising their camera was still on.

 

It has been reported the couple continued in the act until they saw a private chat begging them to stop.

 

 

One horrified onlooker told the New York Post that the couple carried on for about 45 minutes, with the woman walking around naked, going in and out of the Zoom frame.

 

They added: "He was in the bed, he whipped it out, she started going to work.'

 

"Someone on the Zoom saw and called her and was like, ‘WTF are you doing? You’re on camera.’ She freaked out.

 

"It was a Zoom for a bat mitzvah. Most people were not on camera except like, the old bubbes … who don’t know how to turn off their camera, and these two people.

 

"So the boxes were pretty big and everyone could see who was on camera."

 

 

The couple have not been identified by the synagogue, which is downplaying the incident.

 

Managing director Temple Beth El Matt Walzer said: "I’m aware of the incident and won’t be commenting on the details."

EFCC moves Okorocha to court to face N2.9B corruption charges

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought the former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha before a Federal High Court in Abuja for arraignment over N2.9B corruption charges.

 

Okorocha, who is currently a Senator representing Imo West in the National Assembly, is to face trial alongside six others in N2.9 billion money laundering criminal charges.

 

The Senator is being put on trial by the Federal Government on 17-count charges involving criminal diversion of public funds and properties.

 

EFCC operatives drove Okorocha to the court premises with heavy security at about 8:45 a.m. today, May 30, and led him to the courtroom.

 

 

Some of his family members and political associates were already in court ahead of his arrival.

 

Okorocha was arrested by EFCC operatives on Tuesday, May 24, in his Abuja residence.

 

The arrest was to ensure his appearance in court today, May 30.

 

 

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja had on Monday, March 28, issued a threat to strike out the N2.9 billion money laundering charges against Okorocha should the Federal Government fail again to make him appear in court.

 

The judge had threatened to throw out the charges following the inability of the Federal Government to serve charges on Okorocha as required by law.

 

At the March 28 proceedings, the Federal Government, for the second time through its counsel, Mr Cosmos Ugwu, had told Justice Ekwo that he had been unable to see Okorocha to serve him with the charges.

God does not create babies, men and women do - Nigerian Pastor

 

A Nigerian Pastor, Oge C. Ogwe has stated that God does not create babies. 

 

Ogwe in his tweet, averred that though questions like "If God already knows that the world is evil, why does he still send children to be born?" might sound intelligent, the premise is deeply flawed because God does not create babies.

 

According to the Pastor, babies are formed in the mother's womb as a result of fellowship between man and woman, and not because "there's a baby-making factory in heaven". 

 

Ogwe who reiterated that "men and women choose to bring babies into this world", added that after God created Adam and said "Be fruitful and multiply", the job became that of men. 

 

The Pastor however admitted that God can have a plan for an unborn child, but only after the parents decide to have a child.

 

He tweeted; 

 

If God already knows that the world is evil, why does he still send Children to be born? I know this sounds like such an intelligent question, but the premise is deeply flawed. Here's why; GOD DOESN'T CREATE BABIES AGAIN!

Seriously now, Men and Women make babies! Men and Women choose to bring babies into this world. After God created Adam and said "Be fruitful and multiply", the Job became man's! God can have a plan for an unborn child (just like in Jeremiah's case)

But only after the parents decide to have that Child! So your question is best phrased this way.... If parents know that there so much evil in the world, why do they choose to bring children in?! Don't blame God for something that is entirely up to men and women.

Police arrest woman accused of killing her husband in Rivers

 

A mother of four, Chioma Bright, has been arrested in Rivers State on allegation of killing her husband. 

 

According to human right activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, the woman has been detained for four weeks at the SCID in Port Harcourt.  

 

Gwamnishu said the arrest is a ploy by her husband's family to keep her away in order to enable them take over the deceased's properties.

 

Confirming the development on Monday, May 30, the chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Rivers State chapter, Adata Bio-Briggs, said an autopsy has been conducted by pathologists to ascertain the cause of the man's death. 

 

"Update on Mrs. Chioma Bright. After thorough investigations, the following was discovered. She's was remanded to police custody via a remand warrant by the Court. An autopsy was done and further samples has been sent for toxicology. The results will determine further actions by the court." the lawyer said.

Abductors of Methodist Prelate demand N100m

 

Abductors of Prelate of Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Samuel Kanu-Uche, and two other priests from the church are reportedly demanding for a N100m ransom. 

 

LIB reported earlier that the Prelate, the Bishop of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark and the Prelate’s Chaplain, were kidnapped around 7pm on Sunday May 29, along Ihube-Leru-Isuochi Road in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, while on their way from a programme in the council area.

 

Demands of the abductors were disclosed by Secretary of the Conference, the Rt. Revd. (Dr.) Michael Akinwale. 

 

The statement read; 

 

“The devastating news of the abduction of our Prelate, the Bishop of Owerri, and the Prelate’s Chaplain has left everybody in shock.

“This is a period of trial in which the Church must cry out that ‘The Lord that answereth by Fire’ must be our God to destroy all the manipulations of the adversary.

“Let us all arise and cry out to the Lord!

“As we engage in Prayer Warfare, this serves to notify you that the abductors have demanded a ransom of N100m.

“In view of the urgency and the dire need to arrest the situation for the safety of our Prelate and other abductees, it has become imperative to seek your urgent response to raise the N100m ransom

Enforcement of Okada ban will be total - Lagos police

 

Lagos State Police Command has said that enforcement of the ban on motorcycles in some Local Government Areas of the state will be total.

 

Police spokesperson in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin said on Monday May 30, that every resistance will be quelled in accordance with the law.

 

A statement released after the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, met with the area, squadron, and tactical commanders in Ikeja read; 

 

“CP meets with Area Commanders, Squadron Commanders and Tactical Commanders at the Police Headquarters, Ikeja today Monday, May 30, 2022.

“Enforcement will be total. Every resistance will be strongly quelled in accordance with the law.”

Fraud: Ex-lawmaker, Chuma Nzeribe declared wanted by EFCC

 

Former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Marcellinus Chuma Nzeribe, has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. 

 

Nzeribe was convicted for fraud in absentia by Justice Yusuf Y. Halilu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja on May 23, 2022. 

 

The Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement on Monday, May 30, said Nzeribe, 62, jumped the court bail granted to him by the FCT High Court, Maitama and has since not been seen. 

 

"His last known address is at Block M7, Flat 8, NNPC Housing Estate, Area 11, Garki, Abuja," the spokesperson stated. 

 

Uwujaren called on the general public to assist in apprehending former lawmaker.

Nzeribe was first arraigned by the EFCC on October 16, 2020, on a four-count charge bordering on possession of fraudulent document, forgery, using as genuine and cheating by impersonation, punishable under section 6, 8(b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under section 1 (3) of the same Act.

PLS HELP..........20-year-old UNILAG student declared missing in Lagos

 

A 20-year-old student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Arafat Ajayi, has been declared missing by her family. 

 

The 100 level Educational Administration student was said to have left home on Thursday, 26th May 2022, and did not return home. 

 

 

Speaking with Tribune Online, her guardian, Mrs Adebimpe Ibrahim said all efforts to locate her had been abortive. 

 

“My daughter left home around 5am on Thursday and since then, we have searched almost everywhere to locate her. We even reported to the Igbogbo police station, Ikorodu to help us find her and we were told that it has been radioed to other units," Adebimpe said. 

 

"We are also intimating her university about the development but it’s just sad that we haven’t located her till now. I am losing it already and I don’t know how much more I can take if she’s not found,” she added.

 

One of her sisters also expressed worry about Arafat's whereabouts.

 

“She’s a cool and religious devotee, having to part with her this long is worrisome and we are hoping that she will reunite with us soon.” she said.
