SAD.........Jigawa state governor, Baduru Abubakar, vows to ensure the prosecution of 11 men accused of raping 12 year old girl

The Jigawa State government has vowed to prosecute all the 11 men accused of raping a 12-year-old girl over a period of time.

Fidelis Chidi Blog had earlier shared the story of how the victim exposed the 11 men after one of them, a 57-year-old man, was caught trying to lure her at Limawa market in Dutse LGA. She said the men raped her at different times.

Following the widespread condemnation, the state governor, Baduru Abubakar, today vowed to ensure that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that justice is served. Speaking during a press conference in Dutse, the state capital, the governor said

“My Attorney General is always the lead counsel in prosecuting rape charges. In this case, he is actively aware, the police are aware.

“We will leave no stone unturned until we bring those people to justice. It is bad and it is bad.

I was made to understand that it was not gang rape at the same time. It was an incident of sexual intercourse with a minor at different times with different people. 

It was not like they raped her at once, 12 or 14 people. No, I think she has been going around different people who are molesting and taking advantage of under-aged (girls),”

11 men have been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command for raping a 12-year-old girl. 

They were arrested on Saturday May 30, after the police received a complaint of one of the suspects who is 57-years-old being seen at Limawa market in Dutse LGA, trying to lure the victim.

Following the arrest, the rape victim listed names of men who had sex with her at different occassions. 

Spokesperson of the state police, Abdu Jinjiri said; 

“A case of rape is being investigated at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Dutse, sequel to a report received by the Police that a 57-year-old man of Ma’ai village, Dutse LGA was seen at Limawa market trying to lure a 12-year-old girl of the same address, to a seclusion so as to have sexual intercourse with her. 

“And to this end, the police arrested the listed suspects."

The suspects will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation
