REMEMBER Ikokwu4: ? The four men arrested and tortured by police over alleged car theft in River State, released after DPP said they couldn’t establish any criminal case against them (photos)

The four men now known as #Ikokwu4, arrested by police in Port Harcourt over alleged car theft, were released on Wednesday after the Rivers State Department of Public Prosecution(DPP) said they couldn’t prove any criminal case against them.

 

Recall that the four persons, Victor Ogbonna, Osaze Friday, Ifeanyi Osuji, Ifeanyi Onyekwere and late Chima Ikwunado, were arrested on December 19, 2019. They were allegedly tortured in detention to admit that they stole one of the cars they were repairing.

 

 

However, the owners of the cars, Eradiri Erepamo and Chinedu Ezenwaliri later said that their vehicles were not stolen but given to the arrested men for repair. While Chima died in detention, police arraigned the four men on spurious charges of robbery.

 

The report of the Rivers State Department of Public Prosecution, DPP, on the #Ikokwu4, was released on Wednesday.

 

 

In the report, the DPP ordered the prison authorities to immediately release the four detained men because no criminal case has been established against them.

 

The State Judiciary Complex premises were filled by members of the Civil Societies Organizations, members of the public, journalists, members of the Ohaneze Indigbo waiting for the release of the four detained men. The popular Ikokwu motor spareparts market was shutdown in solidarity and protest for the release of the men.

 

There was public outcry over the alleged torturing to death of Chima Ikwunado and detention of his colleagues by officers of the E-Crack unit of the Rivers State Police Command.

REALLY ? Amotekun is a subtle plot by Christians to dominate Southwest – Sharia Council

The Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria has lashed out at the establishment of Amotekun, a security outfit it claimed was a subtle plot by Christians to dominate the South-West region of the country. 

 

Speaking to newsmen in Osogbo, Osun State's capital, the Muslim group's Vice President Sheikh Abdurrasheed Hadiyatullah alleged that the affairs of the Christian-dominated State Police Force was designed and determined from the Church at the expense of the Muslim majority in the region.

 

He added that the Amotekun program is viewed as a subtle method of further Christianization of the Southwest by its promoters. 

 

Hadiyatullah said; 

 

“The Amotekun program is viewed as a subtle method of further Christianization of the Southwest by its promoters in their usual manner of having political and power dominance over the Muslims in the region.

“It is another elusive way of establishing a ‘Christian-dominated State Police Force whose affairs would be designed and determined from the Church at the expense of the Muslims majority in the region. 

“Provision of effective safety for lives and property of the people at any point in time is a collective responsibility one that is devoid of any iota of elements of religious, ethnic and primitive bigotry; a type of garment that Amotekun presently but unfortunately wears.

“Issues of security of the peoples ought not to be premised on the altar of politics and personal interests as doing such would amount to building an empire on mere propaganda and the figment of the imagination of the gullible. It stands to collapse shortly after its creation.

“Any form of the Christian agenda camouflaged as a Security Outfit, such as the Amotekun, where the Muslims population from the Southwest and in the country at large is viewed as a target is an act of injustice, unfairness, inequality, barbarism, savagery and wickedness taken too far and therefore outright unacceptable and thereby condemned in its entirety”.

David Umahi, the Chairman of South East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State has announced that the South-East will soon be getting its own security outfit just like the South-West's Amotekun. 

 

The Ebonyi State Governor who disclosed this on Wednesday January 29, during a familiarization courtesy visit by the General Officer commanding 82 Army Division Enugu, GOC Lasisi Adegboye, said they've already "written to federal government and are putting things together".

 

Umahi said; 

 

“One of our major challenges here in Ebonyi State is our problem with Cross River people, but we bless God so highly for the initiatives of the youths. The Deputy Governor and the Speaker of the State Assembly have to arrange so that they joint youth committee on Cross River and Ebonyi people will go and pay a courtesy call on the GOC.

“Probably, who knows if you are the one that will make both state to sign lasting agreement for lasting peace. Here in Ebonyi, I thank the police, the army, the SSS. It has been a union of brotherhood and working together with our Neighbourhood Watch.

“Every region has their own peculiarities and we had formed our own joint security taskforce and we have written to federal government and we are putting things together because we had a joint meeting with all the service chiefs and the then GOC. So, we discussed and agreed on what we need to do to continue to give safety to our people in South East.

“No one will say that he will not be part of joint security because when people are kidnapped for example in Anambra State, they could be found in Ebonyi. So, we need that synergy to work together to give protection to everybody and here in Ebonyi, we are among the first in the federation to start our law on internal security and that is the Neighbouhood Watch and they have fantastically done very well.

“I am happy that the police, the army, the SSS, they are not ashamed to proclaim that our Neighbouhood Security Watch have done very well. And so, we can say that we are the safest state in the country and there is no joke about that."

The woman, who flew all the way down to Egypt from the UK to see her lover Mohamed Ahmed Irbriham in November 2019, was a guest on This Morning show. 

 

On the show, Ms. Iris left presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield in stitches as she shared her love story as well as her first sexual encounter with her toyboy.

 

 

Iris, who previosly said her toyboy isn't after her money claimed that she "felt like a virgin again" before going further.

 

When asked about their first night together, the 80-year-old pensioner said: "It was very rough." She then continued: "Nobody’s been near me for 35 years, I felt like a virgin again.

While the comment left Holly and Phillip laughing out loud. Iris added: "I couldn't walk the next day, I felt like I'd been riding a horse."

 

 

In a previous interview, Iris and her lover Mohamed disclosed how they almostgot married at the British Embassy in Cairo after only four days together. But the wedding couldn't take place as she didn't travel with her divorce papers. 

Iris is back in the UK, but she's expected to fly back to Egypt with her divorce papers to wed her toyboy later this year.

An FCT High Court in Maitama has sentenced Maryam Sanda to death by hanging for killing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello.

 

The court found Sanda guilty of killing her husband on Monday, January 27, 2020, and thus convicted her of the charges.

 

Sanda had on November 19, 2017 stabbed her husband, Bilyaminu who was son of former Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman, Dr Haliru Bello, to death following an allegation of infidelity against him after seeing a text message on his phone.

 

 

 

Earlier, the judge stood down the matter for five minutes following the drama that ensued after the conviction was passed. According to reports, Sanda fled the dock immediately the judge convicted her. However, court officials and prisons officials dragged her back into the dock.

 

The judge was forced to rise after several women started wailing in the court room
One of them who made attempt to approach Maryam was ordered to be taken away by the judge.

 

Justice Yusuf Halliru rose for 5 minutes to return for sentencing. He held that there was circumstantial evidence coupled with Sanda's testimony and statement to the police. The judge ordered that she should be remanded in Suleja prison till she exhausts her right of appeal.

 

He said the offence for which the convict was convicted was based on Section 221 of the Penal Code.

"It has been said that thou shall not kill. Whoever kills in cold blood shall die in cold blood," the judge said.

"Maryam Sanda should reap what she has sown," he said, adding, "it is blood for blood".

 

Maryam kept wailing and shouting “Inna lilahi Inna roji hun”, while efforts were being made by her family and lawyer to console her.

 

She was heard saying, “I was fasting and praying … Ya Allah, why?” as court officials announced that the judge was about to return for sentencing.

 

Sanda's mother and other sympathisers were pictured weeping as officials whisked Maryam Sanda away from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja after she was sentenced to death on January 27, 2020.

IN UBTH ....RIP DR IDEMUDIA J.O. OF CHEMICAL PATHOLOGY UBTH

The department of chemical pathology and the entire university of Benin teaching hospital (UBTH), have been thrown into mourning as a senior consultant of the hospital, Dr Idemudia J O, lost his life to the cold hands of death after a long battle with cancer.

According to information made available to Fidelis Chidi Blog, Dr idemudia lost his life to AML( Acute Myeliod lukaemia), a cancer of the blood at about 4.30pm yesterday the 26th of January 2020.

Dr idemudia, up till his death, was the head of department of chemical pathology as was loved by many especially students he taught.

His death came as a shock to many as he was know as a very cheerful soul, a source told Fidelis Chidi Blog.

He joins the none ending list of doctors in the hospital to lose their life while in the fruitful time of their career, recall that the teaching hospital had also lost a bright and promising senior registrar, Dr egigba, who died while he was on call at the hospital just a few months to his part 2 exams to become a consultant.

Dr idemudia is survived by his wife and children.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
