INEC delisted APC candidates from the various elections in the state following the crisis that marred the party primaries in October last year. Prominent amongst the party crisis is the emergence of two factions with two governorship candidates. While one which is being controlled by former governor of the state cum Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, brought out oil tycoon, Tonye Cole as its candidates, another faction had Magnus Abe as its governorship candidate.
Following a series of legal battles, the Supreme court on Tuesday February 12th, ordered that APC should not be allowed to field any candidate during the state elections.
The party members this morning staged a protest in front of the INEC office, insisting they must be allowed to field candidates during this election or there will be a problem.
