Catholic Church confirms the killing of two priests by suspected herdsmen in Benue
The Makurdi Diocese of the Catholic Church has confirmed the killing of two of its priests by suspected herdsmen in the early hours of today Tuesday April 24th. The diocese in a statement released by its director of communications, Fr. Moses Iorapuu, gave the names of the deceased priest as Rev. Fathers Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha.


The priests and their parishioners were having an early morning mass at the St. Ignatius Quasi Parish Ukpor-Mbalom when they were attacked by the rampaging herdsmen who burnt  down homes, destroyed food items and killed at will.

Rev Father Joseph Gor who was killed while conducting a morning mass in his church in Mbalom in Gwer- East Local Government area of the state, sometime in January raised alarm over the activities of herdsmen in his community. In his post, Fr. Gor said himself and his community members were living in fear.  Herdsmen stormed his church today while he was conducting morning mass, killing him, his assistant priest and 17 others.
