It is indeed a New Dawn for Advocacy, Welfare, and Unity in NMA Delta State!

Distinguished colleagues, revered elders of our noble profession, I stand before you today with a deep sense of humility, gratitude, and an unwavering commitment to our noble calling. I, Dr. Tega Jude Ighovo humbly declared my intention to run for the office of the Chairman of our esteemed branch of the Nigerian Medical Association. I am running because I believe we are at a pivotal moment in our history, and we need leadership that not only understands our collective pain points but possesses the proven capacity to address them.Every day, our members go above and beyond to save lives. Yet, we do so in environments that are far from optimal. From the persistent issue of brain drain,

Shortage of Manpower, deteriorating infrastructure in our various hospitals, and concerns surrounding our physical security, to the heavy burdens of multiple taxation of public and private Practitioners,and poor remuneration—the reality of the modern medical practitioner is demanding. The resilience you display daily in the face of these systemic challenges is nothing short of heroic. But resilience alone cannot pay the bills, nor can it protect us or guarantee a sustainable future for the next generation of doctors.

If you entrust me with your mandate, my administration will be anchored on but not limited to these three core pillars:

 *Uncompromising Welfare and Dignity:* We will fiercely engage government to domesticate/ implement all federal released circulars with universal applicabilty, including  Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), advocate for restoration of the withheld tax waiver on call duty allowance and even push for its extension to other allowances, we will  push for hazard-free work environments. No doctor should have to work under conditions that demean their professional standing.

 *Security and Infrastructure* : We will collaborate with relevant security agencies and government stakeholders ensuring prompt responses to security threats thereby creating a safe working environment for all our members. We will also push for the modernization of public hospitals with state of the art medical equipments and ergonometric suited furnitures .We shall vigorously push for the integration of robust private practice support to our private Practitioners.

 *The Audacity of Unity* : We are stronger when we speak with one voice. I pledge to bridge the divides that exist in various zones and affiliates by amicably resolving conflicts when they emerge and put strong mechanisms in place to forestall conflict prone situations. We ll promote unity amongst all doctors, ensuring that whether you are a public or private sector practitioner, resident doctor, medical officer or consultant, your voice will be equally represented at the decision-making table.

This election is not about a contest of titles; it is about choosing leaders who will take decisive, action-oriented steps to transform and restore our association to its rightful enviable position in the committe of professional bodies in Delta State. Over the next few weeks, I look forward to listening to your specific concerns and sharing more on how we can build a stronger, more respected, and united NMA DELTA STATE.

we can rewrite the narrative of NMA Delta State through the *RESTORATION PROJECT.*
